New Delhi, September 2026 : A five-member delegation of the Armenian Armed Forces, led by Major General Alexander Tsakanyan, visited a frontline Indian Air Force station under the Western Air Command, marking another step forward in the expanding defence partnership between India and Armenia.
The visit provided the Armenian delegation with an opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the operational procedures, technical infrastructure and aircraft maintenance practices followed by the Indian Air Force (IAF). The engagement was aimed at enhancing mutual understanding, knowledge-sharing and operational interoperability between the two countries.
The IAF Media Coordination Centre confirmed the visit in a post on X, stating that the Armenian delegation undertook a comprehensive guided tour of operational and maintenance facilities at the air station.

The April meeting followed General Chauhan's four-day visit to Armenia in February. During the visit, he met Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and discussed emerging opportunities for defence cooperation and ways to strengthen the strategic relationship between the two countries.
According to the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, discussions during Chauhan's visit covered the evolving geopolitical situation and the prevailing security environment, while also identifying new avenues for bilateral defence cooperation.
Chauhan also held talks with Armenia's Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan, with the two sides exchanging views on regional security developments and bilateral issues. He further met Armenian Defence Minister Suren Papikyan for extensive discussions on strengthening defence cooperation across multiple security domains.
The latest visit to the IAF station builds on these high-level engagements and represents a more practical dimension of the bilateral relationship. By observing India's operational and maintenance procedures, Armenian military personnel gained insights that could potentially support future cooperation in areas such as training, technical assistance, joint exercises and defence technology.
