Effective Implementation of Schemes for the Disabled – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
Mumbai, August 13: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized that disabled individuals are an important part of society and directed that all government schemes for their welfare should be effectively implemented.
A meeting of the State Advisory Board, held in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016, took place at the Ministry under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shinde. Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Rural Development Minister Girish Mahajan, Tribal Development Minister Dr. Vijaykumar Gavit, Port Development Minister Dada Bhuse, Water Conservation Minister Sanjay Rathod, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Sanjay Bansode, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, Secretary of the Disability Welfare Department Vijay Waghmare, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Brijesh Singh, and other dignitaries were present.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shinde stated that public offices, schools, and hospitals should be made accessible to disabled individuals. He directed that a letter be sent to all departments to ensure these measures are listed and implemented. The government is currently running various schemes for the disabled, and the Chief Minister emphasized that the Disability Welfare Department should take the lead in ensuring these schemes reach the intended beneficiaries through the coordination of various departments.
During the meeting, Vijay Waghmare, Secretary of the Disability Welfare Department, gave a presentation on the Act.
