Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum in Nava Raipur Nears Completion; PM Modi to Inaugurate on State Foundation Day

Raipur, Aug 2025 : The Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Living Museum under construction in Nava Raipur is nearing completion and will soon be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on the occasion of Chhattisgarh State Foundation Day, which also coincides with the Silver Jubilee and Tribal Pride Day celebrations.

Principal Secretary of the Tribal Development Department, Shri Sonmani Bora, inspected the ongoing work at the premises of the Tribal Research and Training Institute in Nava Raipur and reviewed the progress. Officials informed that construction is almost complete, with only finishing and painting work underway.

Shri Bora directed officials to ensure that all construction materials meet high quality standards and that there is no financial irregularity in the process. He emphasized that the museum will stand as a symbol of tribal pride, valor, and sacrifice.

The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Tribal Freedom Fighters’ Museum will depict the struggles and bravery of tribal heroes from Chhattisgarh during the freedom movement, including uprisings such as the Halba Rebellion, Sarguja Rebellion, Bhopalpatnam Revolt, Parlakot Rebellion, Tarapur Rebellion, Lingagiri Uprising, Koi Rebellion, Meria Rebellion, Muria Rebellion, Rani Charis Revolt, Bhumkal Movement, Sonakhan Revolt, Jhanda Satyagraha, and Jungle Satyagraha (1920–1923).

The museum aims to become a center of attraction and inspiration for all sections of society. It is targeted for completion by September 30, 2025. Instructions have been issued to incorporate tribal art into the museum’s flooring, install statues of tribal icons like Birsa Munda and Rani Gaidinliu, and complete digitization work on time.

Additionally, the upcoming souvenir shop within the museum will be allotted to institutions such as Gaṛh Kalewa or TRIFED, ensuring the mandatory sale of authentic tribal products.

The inspection meeting was attended by Commissioner Dr. Saransh Mittar, Director of Chhattisgarh State Antyavasayi Corporation Shri Jagdish Kumar Sonkar, Director of TRTI Smt. Hina Animesh Netam, Joint Secretary Shri B.K. Rajput, Additional Director Shri Jitendra Gupta, Deputy Commissioner Smt. Gayatri Netam, Executive Engineer Shri Tridip Chakravarty, along with contractors, curators, engineers, and other departmental officials from the construction agency.
