United States Gets Infuriated With Iran Elected As NPT Vice President.

Vienna; April 2026: Iran has been elected as one of the Vice Presidents of the 2026 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference at the United Nations headquarters, triggering an angry verbal clash with the US delegation and exposing Washington’s deepening isolation on the global stage.

The confrontation erupted during the opening session of the four-week NPT Review Conference yesterday (27th April 2026), where the US representative launched into a tirade after Iran’s election as one of 34 vice presidents. Iran was nominated by the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), representing 121 developing nations that strongly support genuine nuclear disarmament and the sovereign right to peaceful nuclear technology.

The US envoy, visibly rattled by the failure to block Tehran’s election, claimed that the Donald Trump’s administration was “deeply shocked” that a country it accuses of showing “contempt” for the treaty had been chosen for the position. A handful of Washington’s allies, including Australia and the United Arab Emirates, echoed the complaint, while Britain, France, and Germany voiced “concern”, while Russia, however, firmly rejected any attempt to single out Iran.

Iran’s Ambassador to the UN in Vienna, Reza Najafi, categorically rejected the US accusations as “baseless and politically motivated”. He slammed Washington’s hypocrisy, pointing out that the United States is the only country to have ever used nuclear weapons, continues to expand its own nuclear arsenal in violation of the NPT, and actively blocks the creation of a weapons-of-mass-destruction-free zone in West Asia by shielding the Zionist regime’s undeclared nuclear stockpile.

Najafi also condemned recent US-Israeli attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities as “a grave violation of international law and a direct assault on the integrity of the global nonproliferation regime”.

This latest outburst of US diplomatic bullying is part of Washington’s broader campaign of aggression against the Islamic Republic, including illegal sanctions, military strikes, and repeated attempts to undermine Iran’s legitimate rights under the NPT.

Independent analysts describe the American reaction as yet another display of arrogance and refusal to accept the overwhelming will of the international community which views Iran as a responsible NPT member fully entitled to its position.

Iran has long championed nuclear disarmament and the establishment of a nuclear-weapons-free West Asia, goals consistently sabotaged by the US and its Israeli ally. Despite relentless pressure, Iran remains committed to the NPT while firmly defending its inalienable right to peaceful nuclear energy.

The strong international backing for Iran’s election represents a clear victory for multilateralism and a powerful rebuke to US hegemony.

It is mention worthy that, ahead of the conference, Iran has called on the conference to press the Israeli regime to join the NPT and place its clandestine nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards.

Team Maverick.
