SRH Outclass RCB by 55 Runs in Hyderabad Batting Spectacle

Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 55 runs in a high-scoring IPL 2026 encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday night.

In a match dominated by aggressive strokeplay and relentless scoring, SRH piled up a massive 255 for 4 in their 20 overs before restricting RCB to 200 for 4, securing one of their most impressive wins of the season.

After being put into bat, Hyderabad’s top order launched an immediate assault on the Bengaluru bowling attack. Opening batter Abhishek Sharma continued his sensational form with a breathtaking knock of 56 from only 22 deliveries. The left-hander smashed four boundaries and five sixes, maintaining a strike rate above 250 and setting the tone for the innings.

At the other end, Travis Head chipped in with a quick 26 off 16 balls before being dismissed. However, SRH never lost momentum as Ishan Kishan took complete control in the middle overs.

Kishan delivered a superb innings of 79 from 46 balls, combining elegant strokeplay with aggressive hitting. The wicketkeeper-batter struck eight fours and three sixes and ensured Hyderabad maintained a rapid scoring rate throughout the innings.

He then found excellent support from Heinrich Klaasen, who once again displayed his destructive ability in T20 cricket. Klaasen hammered 51 runs from just 24 deliveries, smashing five sixes and putting immense pressure on the RCB bowlers.

Young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy provided the finishing flourish with an unbeaten 29 off only 12 balls. SRH collected 66 runs in the final five overs to finish with a daunting total of 255.

It proved to be a difficult outing for the RCB bowling unit, with all the frontline bowlers conceding heavily. Rasikh Salam Dar was the pick of the attack with two wickets, while Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya picked up one wicket each.

Chasing an enormous target of 256, RCB began aggressively through Venkatesh Iyer, who smashed 44 off just 19 deliveries and briefly kept the visitors in the hunt. However, the quick dismissals of Venkatesh, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal slowed the chase significantly.

Captain Rajat Patidar tried to rebuild the innings with a composed 56 off 39 balls, while Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten on 41. Despite their efforts, the required run rate kept climbing, and RCB never truly recovered from the early setbacks.

SRH’s bowlers also delivered disciplined performances under pressure. Young pacer Eshan Malinga starred with figures of 2 for 33 in four overs, while Sakib Hussain impressed with 1 for 31. Travis Head also chipped in with a wicket as Hyderabad comfortably closed out the contest.

The emphatic victory gives Sunrisers Hyderabad strong momentum heading into the crucial phase of the tournament, while RCB will be concerned about another expensive bowling display in a must-win encounter.
