Action Against Illegal Alcohol Transport from Another State; Seizure Worth Rs 1.72 Crore
Mumbai, Jan 2026 : On January 27, action was taken against a vehicle transporting alcohol from another state near H.P. Petrol Pump, within the limits of Sonale village on the Mumbai–Nashik Highway in Thane district (Taluka Bhiwandi). During this operation, 1,400 boxes of Royal Blue Malt Whisky, manufactured in Goa and banned for sale in Maharashtra, were seized under the liquor prohibition law. This amounted to 67,200 bottles of 180 ml each.
In addition, a six-wheeler vehicle bearing registration number MH 04 LY 4133 belonging to Eicher company, along with a mobile phone, were confiscated. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 1.72 crore 94 thousand.
During this operation, Shravankumar Krishnaram Panwar, resident of Sagadwa, Police Station Daval, Taluka Chitalwana, District Jalore (Rajasthan), was arrested. The action was carried out under the instructions of Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, Commissioner of State Excise, Prasad Surve, Joint Commissioner, and Pradeep Pawar, Divisional Deputy Commissioner of Konkan Division, Thane, with guidance from Deputy Inspector Digambar Shewale.
The operation team included Deputy Inspectors Rinkesh Dangat, V. V. Sakpal, H. B. Yadav, Assistant Deputy Inspector Mahavir Kolekar, and personnel Hunamant Gadhave, Harshal Kharbas, Amit Sanap, Shriram Rathod, Kunal Tadvi, Sagar Chaudhary.
Further investigation of the case is being conducted by Deputy Inspector Rinkesh Dangat, as informed by the departmental flying squad.
