January District Academic Rankings Released; Jhunjhunu and Hanumangarh Top the State
Jaipur, February 2026 : The School Education Department has released the district academic rankings for January 2026. The rankings assess the performance of all districts in the state based on academic outcomes, daily school operations, and governance-related indicators. In the latest rankings, Jhunjhunu and Hanumangarh emerged as the top-performing districts, while Churu secured an impressive third position.
The ranking framework includes key parameters such as regular student attendance, quality of classroom teaching, monitoring through field visits, and students’ performance in academic assessments. With an increased emphasis on learning outcomes and regular high-level performance reviews, the district ranking system has become an effective tool for strengthening accountability, providing targeted support, and ensuring continuous improvement in the school education system.
Special Focus on Learning Outcomes
For the first time, academic learning outcomes have been formally integrated into the ranking process. Competency-Based Assessments (CBA), Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) assessments, and board examination results have been given significant weight. This ensures that district performance reflects not only administrative efficiency but also actual academic impact.
Data-Driven Review Mechanism
The primary objective of the academic rankings is to enable regular, data-driven reviews of district performance and reinforce accountability within the school education system. District rankings and parameter-wise scores are reviewed in detail during monthly meetings chaired by the Secretary of the School Education Department (CSE). These reviews help identify gaps and define clear, actionable steps for improvement.
According to the latest rankings, Jhunjhunu and Hanumangarh have retained their top positions. Churu climbed to third place, overtaking Ganganagar. Sikar, Bharatpur, and Khairthal-Tijara ranked fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively, while Banswara and Jaisalmer were placed at the bottom.
Transparency and Accountability Strengthened
Education Minister Shri Madan Dilawar said the district ranking system has enhanced transparency and accountability in the school education framework. Linking rankings to learning outcomes, he noted, ensures that decisions at every level are based on students’ actual progress. He added that the government’s goal is to provide equal opportunities, timely support, and necessary resources to all districts so that no child in the state is deprived of quality education.
School Education Department Secretary Shri Krishna Kunal stated that data-driven reviews and a strong focus on learning outcomes are now delivering tangible and sustainable improvements in the education system. He emphasized that the department’s priority remains expanding access to quality education through technology, teacher training, and innovation in the coming years.
