US Central Command Launches ‘Operation Epic Fury,’ Deploys Largest American Firepower Concentration in a Generation

Washington, Feb 2026 : The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday that it has launched “Operation Epic Fury,” a sweeping military campaign it described as the largest concentration of American firepower in the region in more than a generation. The operation began in the early hours of the day and marks a major escalation in the United States’ confrontation with Iran.

In a statement released from its headquarters in Tampa, Florida, CENTCOM said the operation was initiated “at the direction of the President of the United States,” underscoring that the campaign is being conducted under direct presidential authorization. According to the command, US and partner forces began coordinated strikes at approximately 1:15 a.m. Eastern Time.

CENTCOM said the objective of the opening phase was to dismantle key elements of Iran’s security and military infrastructure, with a focus on sites deemed to pose an imminent threat. Targets struck during the initial hours included command-and-control facilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iranian air defence systems, missile and drone launch locations, as well as multiple military airfields.

Highlighting the resolve behind the operation, CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper said American forces were responding decisively to presidential orders. “The President ordered bold action, and our brave Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Guardians, and Coast Guardsmen are answering the call,” he said, praising the scale and coordination of the effort.

The command stated that the initial wave of strikes involved the use of precision-guided munitions launched from a wide range of platforms, including aircraft, naval vessels, and ground-based systems. In a notable first, CENTCOM confirmed that its Task Force Scorpion Strike deployed low-cost, one-way attack drones in combat operations, marking a new phase in the use of such systems by US forces.

Following the opening strikes, CENTCOM said American and partner forces were subjected to a significant retaliatory response from Iran. According to the statement, CENTCOM units successfully defended against hundreds of Iranian missile and drone attacks aimed at US positions and interests across the region.

Despite the scale of the exchange, the command emphasized that there have been no reports of US casualties or combat-related injuries so far. It added that while some US installations sustained minor damage, the impact has been minimal and has not disrupted ongoing operations.

CENTCOM underscored that Operation Epic Fury represents an unprecedented deployment of American military power in the region, reflecting both the seriousness of the threat assessment and Washington’s determination to respond forcefully. While the statement did not specify how long the operation is expected to last, it confirmed that strikes were continuing as of early Saturday, with forces remaining on high alert as the campaign unfolds.
