Nationwide Celebrations After India’s T20 World Cup Victory: Deputy CM Eknath Shinde

Mumbai, March 2026 :Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that India’s historic triumph in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has sparked celebrations and excitement across the country, bringing immense pride to the nation in the world of cricket.

Speaking in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Shinde moved a congratulatory resolution to honor the India national cricket team for their remarkable victory in the tournament.

He said the team’s determination, confidence, and outstanding teamwork helped secure the title and once again elevated India’s reputation in international cricket. According to Shinde, the victory reflects the players’ dedication, unity, and belief in their abilities.

On behalf of the Maharashtra government and the people of the state, the Deputy Chief Minister congratulated the entire Indian team, the coaching staff, and Jay Shah for their contribution to the team’s success. He also wished the team continued success in future tournaments.

Shinde noted that India reached the final after defeating England national cricket team in the semifinal held at Wankhede Stadium. In the final match played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, India secured a convincing 96-run victory over the New Zealand national cricket team to lift the World Cup.

With this achievement, India became the first country in the world to win the T20 World Cup consecutively and has now claimed the title three times—in 2007, 2024, and 2026. Shinde said this milestone is not only a sporting victory but also a powerful symbol of the determination, teamwork, and confidence of Indian athletes.

The Deputy Chief Minister also praised several key members of the team, including head coach Gautam Gambhir, captain Suryakumar Yadav, batsman Sanju Samson, and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.

He said the Indian bowlers delivered an impressive performance in the final, restricting New Zealand effectively, while throughout the tournament the team showcased exceptional all-round performance in batting, bowling, and fielding.

According to Shinde, the victory has not only brought joy to cricket fans but has also strengthened India’s standing as a global powerhouse in the sport. He added that the triumph will continue to inspire young cricketers across the country to pursue excellence and represent the nation with pride.
