War of Words Escalates Over Kangana Ranaut’s Remarks on Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, March 2026 : A sharp political confrontation erupted on Wednesday after BJP MP Kangana Ranaut made controversial remarks about Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, drawing strong reactions from several Congress leaders who accused her of making statements to stay politically relevant.

Punjab Congress President Amrinder Singh Raja Warring led the criticism, dismissing Ranaut’s comments and asserting that Parliament is not a stage for glamour or performance. He remarked that Rahul Gandhi’s presence in Parliament should not be judged through the lens of the film industry, adding that governance and public service require seriousness rather than theatrics.

Warring further alleged that Ranaut frequently targets Rahul Gandhi because she feels sidelined within her own party. According to him, such remarks are an attempt to remain in the political spotlight. In a pointed dig, he also referenced her acting career, suggesting that her influence in both Bollywood and politics has waned, prompting her to make provocative statements to maintain relevance.

Congress MP Jothimani also criticised Ranaut, stating that external appearance or celebrity status does not define a person’s character. She argued that Ranaut’s comments reflected the level of discourse she engages in and questioned her standing to comment on Rahul Gandhi.

Joining the chorus, Congress MLA Aslam Sheikh took a personal swipe at the BJP MP, suggesting she should reflect on her own past before criticising others. He went on to criticise the BJP for fielding her as a candidate, implying that her public statements are indicative of the party’s standards and that such controversies are likely to continue.

The controversy was triggered after Ranaut launched a direct attack on Rahul Gandhi, alleging that his conduct in Parliament makes women uncomfortable. She also compared his behaviour unfavourably with that of his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, suggesting he should learn parliamentary etiquette from her.

Ranaut reportedly described Gandhi’s behaviour within the Parliament complex as “tapori-like,” a remark that has since intensified the political row. Her comments have sparked widespread debate, with opposition leaders accusing her of lowering the standard of political discourse.

The exchange highlights the deepening tensions between the ruling BJP and the Congress, with personal attacks increasingly dominating the narrative. As both sides continue to trade barbs, the controversy underscores how political rhetoric is becoming more confrontational, often overshadowing substantive policy discussions.

With no signs of the rhetoric easing, the episode adds another chapter to the ongoing friction between key political figures, keeping the spotlight firmly on the clash between Kangana Ranaut and Rahul Gandhi.
