B. Pharmacy-educated youth Ramesh Premi found his future in farming.

Raipur, March 2026 : Great success achieved in vegetable production through modern farming methods like drip and sprinkler irrigation.

Soil fertility remains maintained and good production is also obtained. Along with this, he has adopted modern techniques like drip irrigation (drip system) in his farming. Through this technique, water is saved and plants get the right amount of water and nutrients, which improves both the quality and quantity of production.

Ramesh Premi, a young farmer from village Jamgahan of Bilaigarh development block in Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district of Chhattisgarh, has today established his identity as a successful farmer through modern and organic farming. Through his hard work, new technology and organic methods, he has set an example. Currently, he is farming on about 5 acres of land and is trying to further improve farming through his income. Ramesh Premi mainly cultivates vegetables. His main crops are cucumber, bottle gourd, bitter gourd, tomato and brinjal. Among these, he cultivates bitter gourd the most, from which he gets good production and profit. Apart from this, he also adopts intercropping method, in which he also grows gram (chickpea), onion, ginger and turmeric. This ensures better use of his land and creates additional sources of income.

The most special aspect of Ramesh Premi’s farming is that he gives more priority to organic farming. He uses less chemical fertilisers and practices farming through natural and organic methods. He also receives support and guidance from the agriculture and horticulture department of Bilaigarh from time to time. By using new technology and modern equipment, he is making his farming more advanced. His farming is not only giving him financial benefits, but he is also providing year-round employment to 10 rural women in the village. This is strengthening the economic condition of rural women and increasing employment opportunities in the village.

Advanced farmer Ramesh Premi’s farming and success

Young farmer Ramesh Premi has studied B. Pharmacy. After completing his education, he worked for some time in the medical and hospital field, but from 2016 he decided to make farming his main occupation. After the Covid period, he completely left hospital work and started giving his full time to farming. Despite being connected to the medical field through his education, by adopting farming he has proved that if farming is done with scientific and modern techniques, it is no less than any job.

Initially, people found this decision a bit unusual. Ramesh Premi says, “I have studied in the medical field, but I felt that there are more possibilities in farming. Many farmers are doing good farming even without formal education, so I thought that if I do farming with education and new technology, better results can be achieved. Today, the result is in front of everyone.”

Giving a message to the youth, he says that through organic farming and vegetable production, farmers can earn good income. If youth take up farming with modern technology, hard work and proper guidance, it can become a successful and respectable profession. If farming is done in a scientific manner, it can become a very good business. He says that today’s youth are only running after jobs, whereas there are immense possibilities in farming as well.

Today, young farmer Ramesh Premi of village Jamgahan is not only becoming successful through his hard work and innovation, but has also become a source of inspiration for nearby farmers and youth. His success shows that by working with new thinking and technology in farming, a better future can be built even while staying in the village.
