Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 to Begin in Sarguja from March 28
Raipur, March 2026: The wrestling competition under the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 is set to be inaugurated on March 28 in Ambikapur, the headquarters of Sarguja district in Chhattisgarh. The national-level event will be held at Gandhi Stadium, where tribal athletes from across the country will showcase their talent.
A total of 144 male and female wrestlers from various states, including Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Gujarat, Odisha, Mizoram, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, and host state Chhattisgarh, will participate in the competition. The event is considered an important initiative to provide a national platform to tribal youth.
The four-day competition will be held from March 28 to March 31. Matches will be conducted in three phases each day—morning session from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, mid-day session from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, and evening session from 4:00 pm until the conclusion of the day’s events.
The event will be broadcast live on DD Sports and through Prasar Bharati, allowing audiences across India and abroad to witness the sporting action.
The Sports Department has made comprehensive arrangements for the participants, including accommodation, food, medical facilities, and security. The Sarguja district administration is fully prepared to host the event and is ready to welcome athletes with its rich tribal culture and hospitality.
