Khelo India Tribal Games 2026: Nikita Creates History, Wins Chhattisgarh’s First Gold with 160 kg Lift

Raipur, March 2026 : Nikita, a young athlete from Chhattisgarh, created history at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 by winning the state’s first gold medal. The prestigious event, held at the Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University campus in Raipur, witnessed her outstanding performance in the women’s 77 kg weightlifting category, where she secured the top position with a total lift of 160 kg.

In the competition, Nikita lifted 70 kg in the snatch and 90 kg in the clean and jerk. Her balanced and confident performance in both segments helped her outperform her closest rivals. With this remarkable achievement, she not only clinched the gold medal but also gave Chhattisgarh a strong start in the tournament.

Odisha’s Smt. Jani secured the silver medal with a total lift of 126 kg, while Assam’s Joyshree Patir finished third, winning the bronze medal with an overall lift of 118 kg.

Nikita’s victory has sparked celebrations across Chhattisgarh. Sports enthusiasts and officials have praised her dedication, hard work, and self-confidence.
