Nature lovers are getting a unique experience, awareness about conservation is increasing

Raipur, March 2026 : The ‘Birdwalk’ initiative started by the Forest Department Khairagarh at Eco Camp Chhindari has become a center of attraction for nature lovers and tourists. This initiative is being conducted under the inspiration of Forest Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap and guidance of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Mr. Arun Kumar Pandey. Its aim is to promote local tourism along with increasing awareness about wildlife conservation. Starting in 2026, under this program, bird tours (Birdwalk) are being conducted every Saturday and Sunday under the supervision of experts. Common citizens, students, and nature lovers are getting the opportunity to participate.

It is noteworthy that Eco Camp Chhindari is a region rich in biodiversity, where almost 35 percent of the bird species found in Chhattisgarh can be seen. Tourists visiting here are mesmerized by seeing various colorful birds up close. In recent Birdwalk programs, students of music and arts from Khairagarh, along with tourists from Durg, Raipur, and Rajnandgaon, participated enthusiastically. Participants are being provided information about the behavior of birds, nest building, and their natural habitats. This initiative is not limited to entertainment alone but also teaches people to become sensitive toward nature. During the tour, participants are instructed to follow rules such as remaining quiet, avoiding plastic use, and respecting wildlife habitats.

To encourage tourism, a participation fee of 200 rupees from adults and 50 rupees from students has been fixed. The Eco Camp is operated by the local community, receiving financial and technical support from the Forest Department. At Eco Camp Chhindari, along with Birdwalk, facilities are available for boating, tenting, camping, and enjoying traditional Chhattisgarhi dishes such as Fara, Thethri, and Khurmi. Filled with natural beauty, this place is developing as an ideal tourism center for visitors.

The Forest Department has urged interested citizens to register in advance to participate in Birdwalk so that everyone can have a well-organized and peaceful experience. This initiative is playing an important role in promoting eco-tourism as well as increasing public awareness about environmental conservation.
