Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal Reviews Kumbh Mela Development Works
Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027
Nashik, April 2026 : Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal on Friday inspected various development works underway in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar in preparation for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027. He reviewed the progress and took detailed updates from officials.
During the visit, Divisional Commissioner and Chairman of the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Development Authority Dr. Praveen Gedam, Kumbh Mela Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, Additional Commissioner Karishma Nair, Assistant Collector Dr. Pawan Dutta, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kiran Kumar Chavan, and other senior officials were present.
The Chief Secretary inspected several key infrastructure projects, including the underground passage at Dwarka Circle, a parallel bridge near Laxminarayan Temple in Tapovan, Kapila Sangam, and Sadhu Gram. He also reviewed the construction of new ghats along the Godavari River being developed by the Water Resources Department. In addition, he visited sewage treatment plants being set up at Tapovan, Agartakli, and Dasak-Panchak by the Nashik Municipal Corporation.
Agrawal further inspected the solid waste management and composting projects near Pandavleni, as well as the municipal water purification plant. He also reviewed the construction of a power substation at Rajur Bahula being developed by the electricity distribution company for the Kumbh Mela.
At Dwarka Circle, Executive Engineer Sandeep Pandagale from the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation briefed him on the project and traffic management plans after its completion.
Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, Additional Commissioner Karishma Nair, and senior officials from the Water Resources Department provided detailed presentations on the ongoing development works in the Tapovan area.
The Chief Secretary stated that a large number of devotees from across India and abroad are expected to attend the Kumbh Mela next year. He emphasized that all necessary infrastructure must be developed in a timely manner and that departments should ensure both quality and efficiency in execution.
Divisional Commissioner Dr. Gedam said that comprehensive planning has been undertaken for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, with administrative approvals already granted for multiple projects. He added that continuous monitoring is being carried out to ensure timely and high-quality completion.
Kumbh Mela Commissioner Shekhar Singh also briefed the Chief Secretary about various ongoing development initiatives.
Rajesh Agrawal is on a three-day visit to Nashik to review preparations. On April 4, he is scheduled to visit Pandavleni, inspect works at Nashik Road Railway Station, review parking arrangements on Dhule Road, and examine ongoing development at Ramkund. He will also review overall preparations at the Smart City office.
