RCB Crush CSK by 43 Runs as Bhuvneshwar Kumar Reaches Historic 200 IPL Wickets
Bengaluru, April 2026 : Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Chennai Super Kings by 43 runs in the 11th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.
Put in to bowl after losing the toss, CSK endured a tough outing as RCB’s batting unit unleashed a relentless assault. Powered by explosive contributions from Tim David, Rajat Patidar, Devdutt Padikkal and Phil Salt, RCB piled up a daunting 250/3 in their 20 overs.
David led the charge with a blistering unbeaten 70 off just 25 balls, smashing eight sixes and three boundaries in a stunning display of power-hitting. He was well supported by skipper Patidar, who hammered an unbeaten 48 off only 19 deliveries, including six towering sixes. The duo stitched together a match-defining 99-run partnership for the fourth wicket in just 35 balls, completely shifting the momentum in RCB’s favour.
Earlier, Padikkal laid the foundation with a fluent 50 off 29 balls, while Salt chipped in with a quickfire 46, ensuring RCB maintained a strong run rate throughout the innings.
Chasing a massive target, CSK showed glimpses of resistance but were eventually bowled out for 207 in 19.4 overs. Sarfaraz Khan top-scored with an aggressive 50 off 25 balls, while Prashant Veer (43) and Jamie Overton (37) contributed valuable runs in the middle and lower order.
However, the steep required rate and regular fall of wickets kept CSK under pressure. RCB’s bowlers executed their plans effectively, especially in the death overs, to ensure the target remained out of reach.
Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the standout performer with the ball, returning figures of 3/41. He was well supported by Jacob Duffy (2/58), Krunal Pandya (2/36), and Abhinandan Singh (2/30), as RCB maintained control in crucial phases.
The match also witnessed a historic milestone, as Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the first fast bowler to claim 200 wickets in IPL history. He achieved the feat by dismissing Ayush Mhatre during the match, joining an elite list of bowlers in the tournament.
Only Yuzvendra Chahal had previously reached the 200-wicket mark in the IPL, making Bhuvneshwar the second overall and the first pacer to accomplish this remarkable achievement.
With this emphatic victory, RCB strengthen their position in the points table and continue their strong start to the season. Meanwhile, CSK will look to regroup and bounce back in their upcoming fixtures after a challenging outing.
