Ensure Timely and Quality Execution of Projects: Devendra Fadnavis Reviews Nagpur Development Works
Nagpur, April 2026 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday directed officials to ensure that all development projects in Nagpur are completed within stipulated timelines and with high quality standards. He issued these instructions while reviewing multiple ongoing and proposed projects across the city.
The review meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat (Hyderabad House), was attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and several senior officials and public representatives.
During the meeting, discussions were held on projects being implemented by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC), MIHAN, the sports department, medical education institutions, and MHADA. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among all agencies to ensure efficient execution.
A key focus area was the development of zone-wise vegetable markets, meat and fish markets, food malls, and hawker zones in densely populated areas of the city. Fadnavis instructed officials to ensure proper parking facilities while executing these projects, suggesting the use of the Integrated Development Control and Promotion Regulations with necessary modifications. Gadkari also advised leveraging modern technology to address parking challenges.
The Chief Minister directed authorities to take strict action against illegal encroachments, particularly around schools and colleges. He called for the removal of unauthorized stalls, pan masala shops, and roadside encroachments, as well as the closure of illegal businesses along highways.
He also reviewed key infrastructure works, including the completion of cement roads under Phase 5, which covers 135 roads spanning 89 km across nine zones. Officials were instructed to adopt a problem-solving approach and address challenges proactively.
On water supply, Fadnavis emphasised the need to curb leakages through strict measures. He also called for adopting best practices from other cities to improve solid waste management systems.
The meeting included discussions on the redevelopment of key markets such as Santra Market, Cotton Market, Netaji Market, and DIG Hospital. Updates were also provided on the International Convention Centre at Dabh, with instructions to incorporate solar energy, ensure regular quality checks, and install CCTV surveillance at major facilities, including the divisional sports complex.
Progress on projects related to medical infrastructure, including hostels, administrative buildings, and sports facilities at government medical colleges, was also reviewed. Additionally, discussions were held on the redevelopment of Yashwant Stadium, the Nag and Pohrar river projects, underground sewerage systems, wastewater management, stormwater drainage, and funding requirements.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the slum rehabilitation project at Kachipura Agricultural College area, highlighting the need for improved urban living conditions.
Overall, the meeting provided a comprehensive review of Nagpur’s urban development roadmap, with a strong emphasis on timely execution, quality assurance, and sustainable infrastructure growth.
