CENTCOM Affirms Preparedness Amidst Donald Trump Extending Ceasefire.
Washington/Tehran; April 2026: Amidst President Donald Trump announcing the extension of ceasefire, the US Central Command (CENTCOM), which is leading the war on Iran, has released a message on social media stating that its “forces remain ready”. Accompanied by a video clip featuring warplanes, ships and US troops, CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper is featured at an updated news conference with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
“We are rearming. We’re retooling, and we’re adjusting our tactics, techniques and procedures”, Cooper says at the conference, while further adding that, “There is no military in the world that adjusts like we do, and that’s exactly what we’re doing right now during the ceasefire”.
The recent developments in the United States within the past 24 hours – President Trump found to have changed stances on-and-off pertinent to the Iran attacks. Yesterday (21st April, 2026) he was heard to have been saying that US will start bombing Iran if no deal is achieved at Islamabad. He was further to have been saying that Vice President JD Vance won’t be travelling to Islamabad to take part in the negotiations, but just hours after Trump had announced that Vance is going to lead the American delegation in Islamabad.
But just an hour before the announcement of the ceasefire – both President Trump, and Vice President JD Vance had a detailed discussions at White House, where the proposals from Pakistan were discussed, and Trump announced the extension of ceasefire. It is noteworthy that mediator Pakistan had sought more time from the United States to find out a win-win proposition for the negotiation.
US foreign policy expert Barbara Slavin has said that President Trump is in a quandary, but the ceasefire extension is definitely a good news for the time being.
As per latest updates from official sources in the US (names not disclosed due to security reasons) – that the United States have already exhausted a major chunk of their stockpiles. US military has exhausted nearly half of its Patriot air defence interceptor stockpile and heavily expended 06 other key missile categories during its war on Iran.
According to a new analysis from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the scale of Operation Epic Fury’s air and missile campaign has created significant gaps in US munitions reserves.
The CSIS report, released yesterday (late night local time; today early morning IST), details the following depletion levels:
- Patriot Missiles: almost 50% of the total stockpile depleted;
- THAAD Interceptors: more than half of the inventory expended;
- Precision Strike Missiles (PrSMs): more than 45% of the stockpile used.
