AH&VETY and Horticulture Ministers Meet Professors and Students from Chung Hsing University, Taiwan
Aizawl : AH&Vety Minister Pu C. Lalsawivunga and Horticulture Minister Prof. Lalnilawma held a meeting yesterday with Prof. Ted Chang and 11 students from Chung Hsing University, Taiwan, at the Horticulture Minister’s Chamber, MINECO.
Earlier this year, Prof. Lalnilawma, along with officials from the Horticulture Department and Pu Jonathan Lalremruata, OSD to the Chief Minister, visited Taiwan to strengthen collaborations. Following this visit, Prof. Ted Chang and his students visited Mizoram to discuss ongoing cooperation and showcase Taiwan’s expertise in cultivating High Mountain Tea, with practical demonstrations of tree grafting techniques.
The team from Chung Hsing University also studied local tree species and explored the potential for cultivating High Mountain Tea in Mizoram. Their research will help determine the feasibility of this crop in the region.
This initiative marks a significant step in the collaboration between the Horticulture Department and Chung Hsing University, aiming to enhance tea production and other horticultural practices in Mizoram.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Shri Dhar, Dean of the College of Horticulture, Thenzawl, Central Agricultural University, and his team. The Ministers were accompanied by Pu Jonathan Lalremruata, OSD to the Chief Minister, and Pu C.H. Lalmuanpuia, Director of the Horticulture Department, along with other officials from the department.
