Sooryavanshi’s 93, Jurel’s Calm Fifty Power Rajasthan Royals to Stunning Seven-Wicket Win Over LSG

Score: Rajasthan Royals 225/3 in 19.1 overs beat Lucknow Super Giants 220/5 in 20 overs by 7 wickets

Jaipur, May 2026 : Rajasthan Royals (RR) produced one of the most thrilling run chases of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, defeating Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by seven wickets in a high-scoring encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Tuesday. Chasing a daunting target of 221, Rajasthan rode on a sensational 93 from young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and an unbeaten 53 from Dhruv Jurel to complete the chase with five balls to spare.

The emphatic victory lifted Rajasthan Royals to fourth place in the points table and kept their playoff hopes alive after a difficult run of form in recent matches.

The chase began in explosive fashion as Yashasvi Jaiswal took the attack straight to the LSG bowlers. Rajasthan collected 23 runs in the opening over from Akash Singh, immediately putting pressure on the visitors. Jaiswal played aggressively from the outset, finding boundaries with ease through elegant cuts, pulls, and lofted drives.

Young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi soon joined the assault and transformed the innings into a relentless attack. The duo tore apart the Lucknow bowling attack during the powerplay, with Rajasthan racing to 84/1 inside eight overs. Jaiswal smashed 43 off just 23 deliveries before edging Akash Maharaj Singh behind to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

However, Jaiswal’s dismissal did little to slow Rajasthan’s momentum as Sooryavanshi continued his fearless strokeplay. The youngster mixed timing with brute power, dominating the middle overs with clean hitting on both sides of the wicket. He reached another rapid half-century in a season where he has emerged as one of the breakout stars of the tournament.

Sooryavanshi narrowly missed out on a century after scoring a breathtaking 93 off only 38 balls, an innings studded with 10 towering sixes. Just when Rajasthan appeared to be cruising comfortably, Mohsin Khan struck with a crucial breakthrough to dismiss the opener and inject some tension into the contest.

Lucknow Super Giants attempted to claw their way back through disciplined spells from Mohsin Khan and Digvesh Singh Rathi. A dramatic moment arrived in the 16th over when Lhuan-dre Pretorius was run out sharply, giving LSG renewed hope of triggering a collapse.

But Dhruv Jurel ensured Rajasthan never lost control of the chase. Batting with maturity and composure, Jurel rotated strike intelligently and punished loose deliveries whenever opportunities arose. His calm approach balanced the aggression displayed earlier by Sooryavanshi and Jaiswal.

Jurel stitched together crucial partnerships in the latter half of the innings and expertly managed the required run rate. Donovan Ferreira also chipped in with a valuable cameo, helping Rajasthan edge closer to the target.

With 33 runs needed off the final five overs, Rajasthan remained composed under pressure. Jurel accelerated at the right time, taking calculated risks while maintaining control of the chase.

The match ended in spectacular fashion in the 19th over. Needing just two runs from the final ball of the over, Donovan Ferreira stepped out against Shahbaz Ahmed and smashed a towering six over long-off, sealing a memorable victory for Rajasthan Royals.

Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants had posted a formidable 220/5 after a brilliant batting display led by Mitchell Marsh, who fell agonisingly short of a century. Marsh hammered 96 off 57 balls, while Josh Inglis provided an explosive start with 60 off 29 deliveries. Rishabh Pant also contributed with a brisk 35.

Despite posting a huge total, LSG’s bowlers failed to maintain consistency. Mohsin Khan finished with figures of 1/24 and Digvesh Singh Rathi bowled economically, but the Rajasthan batting line-up proved too strong on the night.

Brief Scores:

Lucknow Super Giants: 220/5 in 20 overs (Mitchell Marsh 96, Josh Inglis 60; Yash Raj Punja 2/35, Jofra Archer 1/39)

Rajasthan Royals: 225/3 in 19.1 overs (Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 93, Dhruv Jurel 53 not out, Yashasvi Jaiswal 43; Mohsin Khan 1/31)

Result: Rajasthan Royals won by 7 wickets.
