Kolkata, May 2026 : KL Rahul’s classy 30-ball 60 and a late burst from David Miller propelled Delhi Capitals to a commanding 203/5 in 20 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on Sunday. The total marked DC’s highest-ever score at the venue and was built on consistent contributions across the batting order, with every batter chipping in to push the team past the 200-run mark.
Rahul led the charge with a fluent innings at a strike rate of 200, setting the tone early and maintaining control throughout the powerplay and middle overs. David Miller’s quickfire 19-ball 28 at the death provided the finishing flourish as DC closed their innings strongly with 63 runs coming in the final five overs. For KKR, Saurabh Dubey stood out with an impressive spell of 2/28.
Strong Start After Being Put in to Bat
Put in to bat first, Delhi Capitals openers KL Rahul and Abishek Porel gave their side a brisk start. Porel looked confident from the outset, smashing consecutive boundaries off Anukul Roy in the first over and following it up with crisp shots off Kartik Tyagi.
Rahul also found his rhythm quickly, lifting Cameron Green for a six and a four in the third over, showing intent with clean stroke play. However, Porel fell early for 22, edging Saurabh Dubey to the wicketkeeper in the fourth over, breaking the opening stand.
Rahul Anchors, Parakh Supports
Sahil Parakh joined Rahul at the crease and kept the momentum going. The young batter impressed with a fearless approach, smashing Sunil Narine for a six and a four, while Rahul continued to dominate the experienced spinner with a six straight down the ground followed by another authoritative boundary over the top.
Varun Chakravarthy was also taken on by Parakh before the youngster was dismissed for 24, caught by Ajinkya Rahane off Narine, as KKR managed a crucial breakthrough.
Rahul, however, continued his dominant form and brought up his fifth half-century of the season in just 25 balls. He combined with Axar Patel to keep the scoreboard moving, with both batters picking up boundaries off Kartik Tyagi and Anukul Roy.
Rahul eventually fell in the 13th over, holing out to long-off off Roy after a well-made 60, leaving DC well-placed for a strong finish.
Axar and Miller Finish Strong
Axar Patel played a valuable supporting role with a brisk 39 off 25 balls, including two sixes. He kept the innings steady through the middle overs before being dismissed by Chakravarthy in the 17th over.
David Miller then took over in the death overs, launching a brutal assault on Saurabh Dubey. He struck three towering sixes and ensured DC finished strongly. Ashutosh Sharma also contributed with an unbeaten 18, hitting a six and a four off Kartik Tyagi to add further momentum.
KKR’s fielding lapses, including dropped catches at crucial stages, proved costly as DC capitalised fully on the opportunities. The final five overs yielded 63 runs, pushing the total past the 200-run mark and putting KKR under immense pressure in the chase.
