With the mantra of ‘Charaiveti-Charaiveti’, the double-engine government is continuously taking forward the journey of development: Chief Minister

Prayagraj, May 2026 : Speaking on Tuesday at the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony for the newly constructed House Hall of the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation and various development projects, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the government’s journey of development has neither stopped nor slowed down anywhere in the state.

He said, “This journey is moving continuously like the flow of Maa Ganga.”

Referring to the mantra of “Charaiveti-Charaiveti”, the Chief Minister said, “Prayagraj today has become a wonderful confluence of cultural heritage, spiritual pride and modern development.”

The Chief Minister said, “Before 2017, events like Magh Mela and Kumbh had become symbols of dirt, stampede, disorder and chaos. People even hesitated to visit Prayagraj. But when his government got the opportunity to organise Kumbh in 2019, under the guidance and inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prayagraj Kumbh received recognition from UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This gave global recognition to Indian culture and Sanatan tradition. During both Kumbh-2019 and Mahakumbh-2025, the double-engine government developed extensive infrastructure facilities in Prayagraj.”

He said that if these are maintained properly, they will become a permanent heritage of Prayagraj till the next Kumbh.

The Chief Minister appreciated the work of the Municipal Corporation and the Mayor and said, “Efforts have been made to connect heritage with development. At the beginning of 2024, during the inspection of preparations for Mahakumbh-2025, it was decided that the city would be given a new identity. Today, the 161-year-old Municipal Corporation building stands in a grand form. A modern hall for councillors has been prepared and the Municipal Corporation is inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 400 crore. Zonal parks are being developed in different places while a new series of Shivalik Parks is also being prepared.”

Calling Shivalik Park a successful example of “waste to wealth”, he said, “Replicas of the twelve Jyotirlingas were made from 400 tonnes of waste material, which have become a centre of attraction for people. Such efforts are giving Prayagraj a new identity.”

The Chief Minister said, “Earlier, darshan of Akshay Vat was not available for common devotees, but in 2019, inspired by the Prime Minister, Akshay Vat was opened for devotees. Now devotees can visit the site and also receive water from Saraswati Koop. Maharishi Bharadwaj’s Ashram had remained under encroachment for years, but now it has been freed and developed in a grand form.”

Calling Maharishi Bharadwaj the world’s first Vice Chancellor, he said, “Prayagraj is now regaining its cultural dignity. Today, the roads of Prayagraj have become wider and smarter, and the city has started a new journey of development as a Smart City. The Municipal Corporation and public representatives are working to ensure development reaches every ward and locality.”

The Chief Minister said, “The occasion of Ganga Dussehra, Jyeshtha month and Tuesday together is a special opportunity of virtue. Nine years ago, Prayagraj was surrounded by fear, terror, disorder, mafia rule and hooliganism. Public lands were encroached upon and development had completely stopped. But today Prayagraj has become completely free from mafia and hooliganism. Now daughters, traders and common citizens can move freely at any time without fear.”

He warned that anyone daring to harass daughters or commit crimes would have to pay the price. He said, “The double-engine government is working with the goal of security, good governance and prosperity.”

Expressing special gratitude to the people of Prayagraj, he said, “Despite major inconvenience in traffic and movement during the 45 days of Mahakumbh, no one expressed protest or dissatisfaction. The entire city appeared as if it was celebrating a function at its own home. Any major event becomes successful only when people treat it as their own programme and cooperate wholeheartedly.”

The Chief Minister said, “Because of the blessings and support of the people, the government is able to implement employment schemes, farmer welfare, poor welfare and major infrastructure projects on the ground. Today, through the Ganga Expressway, one can travel from Prayagraj to Delhi in just seven hours. Built with world-class technology, even at a speed of 120 km per hour on this expressway, it feels as if the vehicle is standing still.”

He added, “In the assembly constituency of Harshvardhan Ji, a four-lane bridge over the Ganga River is being constructed at a cost of around Rs 1000 crore, and the work on Phaphamau Bridge will also be completed soon. Efforts are being made to have Prime Minister Modi inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of all these major projects.”

The Chief Minister also said, “Work on several major projects is still pending in Prayagraj and the government will continue to move them forward.”

Remembering Bhagwan Prayagraj, Akshay Vat, Maa Ganga and Bhagwan Veni Madhav, he said, “The development journey of Prayagraj will continue without stopping, without wavering and without bowing down.”

He assured that the state government will fully support every proposal related to development.

On this occasion, Jal Shakti Minister and Prayagraj in-charge Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, Mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani, MLAs Harshvardhan Vajpayee, Deepak Patel, Piyush Ranjan Nishad, Guru Prasad Maurya, Vachaspati, Rajmani Kol, Legislative Council members Surendra Chaudhary and K.P. Srivastava, District Panchayat President Dr V.K. Singh, BJP Metropolitan President Sanjay Gupta, Yamunapar District President Rajesh Shukla and others were present.
