S Jaishankar’s Significant Visits to Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Switzerland
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is set to visit Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from September 8 to 9, 2024, to participate in the inaugural India-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. During this visit, he will also engage in bilateral discussions with the Foreign Ministers of GCC member states.
India’s relationship with the GCC is strong, spanning political, trade, energy, and cultural ties. As a major trading partner for India and home to around 8.9 million Indians, the GCC plays a pivotal role. This meeting will provide an opportunity to strengthen and expand cooperation between India and the GCC.
Following this, from September 10-11, 2024, Jaishankar will visit Berlin, Germany, marking his third bilateral trip there. India and Germany have a deep-rooted Strategic Partnership, with Germany being a major trading partner and investor in India. Jaishankar will meet with the German Federal Foreign Minister and other key officials to assess and enhance bilateral relations.
Concluding his trip, Jaishankar will visit Geneva, Switzerland, from September 12-13, 2024. During this leg of the visit, he will hold meetings with leaders of international organizations and the Swiss Foreign Minister, aiming to boost India’s engagement with global institutions and deepen the partnership with Switzerland.
