IndiGo Operates Over 2,000 Flights Consecutively, Signaling Strong Operational Recovery
New Delhi, Dec 2025 : IndiGo has successfully operated more than 2,000 flights for the second consecutive day, marking a significant step toward stabilising its operations after severe flight disruptions earlier this month that left thousands of passengers stranded across India. The airline’s steady recovery is being closely monitored as it gradually restores its network to full capacity.
In line with government directives, IndiGo revised its schedule and implemented operational measures to ensure a smooth resumption of services. The airline reported that it is set to operate over 2,050 flights, covering all 138 operational destinations, with on-time performance returning to standard levels. This follows a gradual increase in flights over the past week, with 1,700 flights on Dec 8, 1,800 on Dec 9, 1,900 on Dec 10, and 1,950 on Dec 11. On Dec 12, more than 2,050 flights were successfully operated, with only two cancellations due to technical reasons, and all affected passengers were accommodated on alternate flights immediately. Flight operations on Dec 13 are expected to surpass 2,050.
Following the disruption, IndiGo appointed Chief Aviation Advisors LLC, an independent aviation consultancy, to conduct a detailed review of the operational failures and identify factors that contributed to the crisis. The airline has been implementing recommendations and restructuring operations to prevent a recurrence, focusing on resource allocation, crew scheduling, and technical readiness.
Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu highlighted in the Lok Sabha that capping airfares year-round would not be feasible in a deregulated aviation market. He emphasized that regulating fares alone is “not a one-way solution,” as the government must also consider the long-term sustainability of the aviation ecosystem, including airlines, airports, and operational networks.
IndiGo’s recovery demonstrates a gradual stabilisation of India’s domestic aviation sector, restoring passenger confidence and ensuring network connectivity. Experts note that the airline’s ability to resume full-scale operations within days reflects strong crisis management, strategic planning, and operational resilience. The ongoing recovery, combined with government oversight, aims to ensure that disruptions are minimised in the future, strengthening India’s civil aviation system.
With flights steadily returning to normal, IndiGo is signaling not only its commitment to passengers but also its role as a key player in maintaining the reliability and efficiency of India’s aviation sector.
