AP Congress Chief Y.S. Sharmila Recovering After Surgery; Leaders Across Parties Extend Wishes

Amaravati, July 2026: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Y.S. Sharmila on Sunday said she is recovering well after undergoing abdominal surgery, thanking supporters and well-wishers for their prayers and encouragement.

Sharing a health update on social media platform X, Sharmila said the surgery was necessary and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support she had received. “I am recovering well after the abdominal surgery I recently underwent. A big thank you to all my well-wishers for your kind thoughts and support,” she wrote.

Political leaders from across party lines wished the Congress leader a speedy recovery and good health.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu extended his best wishes, saying he was praying for Sharmila’s complete recovery and hoped she would regain full health soon. He wished her strength during the recovery period and a swift return to public life.

Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan also conveyed his wishes, expressing hope that the surgery would help Sharmila recover quickly and resume her public responsibilities in good health.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Working President and State Minister for Human Resources Development and Information Technology Nara Lokesh joined the leaders in wishing Sharmila well. In a message posted on social media, he said he was pleased to learn that she was recovering and wished her a speedy and complete recovery.

Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and former APCC President N. Raghuveera Reddy also extended his prayers and wished the state Congress chief a quick return to good health.

Meanwhile, a separate health concern emerged in neighbouring Telangana, where senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy suffered a heart attack on Sunday. He was initially admitted to a hospital in Hanamkonda, where doctors reportedly performed repeated rounds of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to stabilise his condition.

According to hospital sources, Sudarshan Reddy remained in critical condition before being shifted to Hyderabad for advanced treatment. He was later admitted to Yashoda Hospital for specialised medical care.

Senior BRS leaders, including Working President K.T. Rama Rao and Deputy Floor Leader in the Telangana Assembly T. Harish Rao, visited the hospital in Hanamkonda to inquire about his health. The two leaders also accompanied the ambulance transporting Sudarshan Reddy to Hyderabad, underscoring the party’s concern over his condition.

The developments prompted an outpouring of prayers and messages of support for both political leaders, with well-wishers hoping for their speedy recovery and return to public life.
