CM Dr. Yadav Shares Meal with Tribal Family

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s visit to the home of Shri Basant Singh Bamaniya, a member of the tribal community in Thandla, Jhabua district, was a heartwarming reflection of his close bond with the tribal community and his deep respect for its family values and rich cultural traditions. The Chief Minister spent quality time with the family, interacted warmly with its members, tied Rakhi with tribal sisters ahead of the auspicious festival of Raksha Bandhan during the holy month of Shravan, and showered affection on the children, making them feel truly at home.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav had arrived in Thandla to participate in the State-level Capacity Building and Loan Distribution Programme for Self-Help Groups.

Minister Shri Vijay Shah, Minister Smt. Nirmala Bhuria and Member of Parliament Smt. Anita Nagar Singh Chouhan also accompanied the Chief Minister. The dignitaries joined the tribal family for a meal and interacted closely with them to understand their traditions, culture and way of life.

Traditional Meal Seated on Traditional Godadi in Pattals

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, choosing simplicity over protocol, embraced the traditional tribal lifestyle by sitting on a godadi (traditional floor mat) and enjoying a meal served on Pattals (Leaf Plates). He shared a warm and informal meal with them, seated in the courtyard of the family’s humble mud-and-clay house. The women of the family served traditional tribal delicacies with great warmth and affection. The Chief Minister particularly relished urad dal and the local traditional dish Paniya, appreciating both the cuisine and the family’s gracious hospitality.

Tribal Sisters Tie Rakhi to the ChiefMinister

The spirit of Raksha Bandhan added a special touch to the visit. Tribal women tied Rakhi on the Chief Minister’s wrist and prayed for his well-being. Extending his Raksha Bandhan greetings, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav conveyed a message of affection, respect and appreciation for sisters.

Interaction with Ladli Behnas and Ladli Laxmi Girls

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also met the family’s Ladli Behnas and Ladli Laxmi daughters, enquired about their well-being and interacted with them warmly. He reaffirmed that the State Government remains committed to ensuring the dignity, safety and empowerment of women, and that the well-being of every family is its highest priority. The Chief Minister also spent time with the children, blessing them for a bright future. During the visit, he affectionately interacted with young Shivansh, showering him with special love and encouragement.

Warm Interaction with the Tribal Family

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav held an informal discussion with the family members, enquiring about their traditions, livelihood, education, children’s future and the benefits they were receiving under various government welfare schemes. The Chief Minister said that the culture, traditions and values of the tribal community are an invaluable heritage of Madhya Pradesh and reaffirmed the State Government’s unwavering commitment to their holistic development and dignity.

Family Preserves Ancestral Home Despite Receiving a ‘Pucca House’

Shri Basant Singh Bamaniya informed the Chief Minister that his family had received a pucca house with basic amenities under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. However, the family continues to live in its ancestral mud-and-clay house, as it represents generations of memories, traditions and emotional attachment. He said that the house is much more than a dwelling—it symbolises the family’s heritage and the memories of their elders. The natural and serene environment of the traditional home continues to provide them with a deep sense of comfort and belonging. Shri Bamaniya is also a beneficiary of the Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Sambal) Yojana.
