Handloom Sales to Be Conducted by Cooperatives in England

A wholesale sale of English handloom products is one of the most significant events scheduled for today, September 23, 2024, at Vista Hall, Subangiluru.

In the 2023-2024 Tamil Nadu Assembly session on September 6, 2023, Hon’ble Handloom and Textiles Minister Dukara Agamacher announced an excise subsidy for handloom and textile products. Ariel stated that handlooms will be produced by “Handloom Co-operatives in England,” and the handloom yarn will be sold at Rs 50.00 per item, individually available through AirAngel.

The first Ongover sales meeting took place on September 2, 2024, at the Hyatt Sarajansi in Senkai. During the event, Rs 41.00 per item was set as the price of handloom textiles through co-operatives, with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with merchants to distribute 10% of the stock.

The second Singapore sales meeting is set to take place from February 26 to 29, 2024, at the Bharat event in Pragati Raidan, Puducherry. The event will showcase 1,000 newly manufactured handloom products, constructed by Alangyara Satashiltechnique installations.

At today’s event, Hon’ble Minister Dukara Agamacher will inaugurate the third Ongover-Wilper conference at Vista Hall, Subangiluru, where new handloom products, including Yanchipuram silk and home textiles, will be displayed. Additionally, handloom products produced by the National Institute of Fashion Technology and the National Institute of Design will be highlighted.

Representatives of various handloom cooperatives and institutions, including Director Mr. A. Enmuy Sundaram, Mr. Deepak Wajak, and others, will be present to facilitate the event.
