Jaismine Clinches Women’s 57kg Boxing Gold at Commonwealth Games 2026
Glasgow, Aug 2026 : India’s Jaismine delivered a dominant performance to defeat Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh by a unanimous 5-0 decision and claim the women’s 57kg boxing gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Saturday.
Jaismine controlled the final from the opening bell, combining sharp punching, effective footwork and intelligent movement to keep Walsh under constant pressure at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC).
The Indian boxer maintained her composure throughout the three-round contest, consistently landing the cleaner punches while limiting her opponent’s opportunities to respond. Her tactical discipline and ring awareness allowed her to dictate the pace and keep Walsh on the defensive.
All five judges awarded the bout to Jaismine, confirming her superiority in the gold-medal clash. Three judges scored the contest 29-28 in her favour, while the remaining two gave her a commanding 30-27 verdict.
Jaismine’s ability to maintain her distance, pick her shots and neutralise Walsh’s attacks proved decisive as she remained in control until the final bell.
The victory adds another gold medal to India’s highly successful boxing campaign at Glasgow 2026. Her triumph also underlines the growing strength of Indian women’s boxing on the Commonwealth stage.
With Jaismine securing the top podium finish, India’s impressive medal tally received another significant boost as the country continued its strong run across sporting disciplines at the Games.
