Chitrakot and Dhudmaras villages of Bastar received special honor on World Tourism Day

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Chhattisgarh has been honored by the Government of India for doing better work in the field of tourism. Chitrakote and Dhudmaras villages of Bastar have been awarded special honors in the Best Tourism Village Competition 2024 organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. This award was given by Union Tourism Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in a grand ceremony organized at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. Chitrakote has been given this honor for the community tourism model and Dhudmaras for excellent performance in adventure tourism.

On this occasion, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai congratulated the people of Chitrakote and Dhudmaras village and the team of the Tourism Department and said that this honor further strengthens our commitment to establish Chhattisgarh as a major tourist destination. He said that this achievement will give further impetus to the tourism industry of the state. For this, efforts are being made to promote wellness tourism, adventure tourism and cultural heritage in the state.

Secretary of Chhattisgarh Tourism Department Mr. Anbalgan P., Managing Director of Chhattisgarh Tourism Board Mr. Vivek Acharya, and Director of Jungle Safari and Zoo Raipur Mr. Ganvir Dhammasheel were present to receive this award given by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Along with this, founder of Unexplored Bastar Mr. Jeet Singh Arya, and representatives of the local community Mr. Mansing Baghel and Mr. Sonadhar Baghel (Dhudhmaras), and Mr. Khageshwar Maurya and Mr. Sukaman Kashyap (Chitrakot) were also present to receive this honor. With this honor, tourism of Chhattisgarh state will get a new direction, and it will strengthen the identity of the state at the national and international level.

It is worth noting that the local community has played a significant role in promoting tourism in both these places. Dhudmaras village attracts tourists for its exciting adventure activities, while the Chitrakote waterfall is world famous for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. With this honor, the recognition of these two tourist places has become even more widespread.
