Gandhinagar : Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has prioritized the health of 140 crore citizens through a comprehensive health protection framework consisting of 37 schemes. During the inauguration of Hiramani Aarogyadham in Adalaj, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah commended the Prime Minister for setting a noble example of how politicians can work with sensitivity and vision. Inaugurating Hiramani Aarogyadham, which was constructed at a cost of ₹50 crore, Union Minister Shri Amit Shah emphasized that this facility serves as a tribute to his parents, inspired by Shri Narhari Amin’s noble commitment to serving society. The Union Minister pointed out that the fast-paced lifestyle and polluted environment have contributed to both land and water pollution, which adversely impacts human health. This has led to diseases that require long-term, continuous healthcare, often making such services prohibitively expensive for ordinary citizens and the underprivileged. Hiramani Aarogyadham has been established to address these healthcare needs comprehensively.
Union Home Minister emphasized that many areas of the health sector were overlooked in public welfare for 70 years following independence. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has conducted a thorough assessment and enhancement of health services for citizens through a holistic approach. He initiated a cleanliness campaign that has successfully eliminated around 20 common diseases. Both minor and major illnesses have been effectively addressed by ensuring access to clean drinking water for every household. Significant efforts have also been made to eradicate diseases by promoting the construction of toilets in homes. Furthermore, yoga has been prioritized to raise health awareness among citizens. Today, there is a global awareness of yoga, and the Ayushman card provides health service coverage of up to ₹5 lakh for 60 crore individuals from poor and ordinary families. He added that, in addition to health services, the Prime Minister has launched medical colleges. Not only is the number of medical seats being increased but hospitals are also being established to provide comprehensive health services. Over the next 10 years, approximately 75,000 additional medical seats will be created. Upgrades to Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) are also underway, along with the establishment of Generic Medicine Centers to provide affordable medicines to people. Through these 37 diverse schemes, he has significantly enhanced the health and well-being of the poor, deprived, and needy people across the country.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel remarked that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, good governance has thrived in the nation. He pointed out that when serious illnesses, such as heart or kidney diseases, afflict a poor family, they often find themselves overwhelmed by the financial burden. However, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is dedicated to ensuring accessible health services at affordable prices.
The Chief Minister further highlighted that 15 new AIIMS hospitals have been established under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership. Currently, 225 medical colleges are operational across the country, resulting in the creation of over 70,000 additional medical seats. During his tenure, the Prime Minister has embraced a public welfare approach, implementing numerous health policies aimed at improving the well-being of Gujarat. In the past, people from remote areas had to travel considerable distances for healthcare; today, super-speciality hospitals are accessible even in the most remote regions. He added that the number of medical college seats in Gujarat has doubled; in 2014, there were 14 medical colleges, which have now increased to 40. Medical colleges have also been established in tribal areas. District-level hospitals, Community Health Centres (CSCs), Primary Health Centres (PSCs), and health sub-centres are being built to provide excellent health services to citizens, while social institutions play a crucial role in enhancing health services in the state. He emphasized that this government is committed to providing affordable treatment for serious diseases to all citizens. Everyone understands the high cost of dialysis when serious kidney issues arise, especially when the necessary infrastructure was previously lacking in our country. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, dialysis centres have been established, enabling citizens to access these services closer to home. Additionally, 35 new day-care chemotherapy centres have been launched in Gujarat. Public health and well-being are essential components of the Prime Minister’s vision for Viksit Bharat. He noted that this health centre embodies the mantra of health and well-being, offering services such as physiotherapy, dialysis, chemotherapy, and Ayurvedic treatments in this Arogyadham.
On this occasion, Dr Varun Amin, Managing Trustee of Hiramani Aarogyadham, warmly welcomed the dignitaries. After the program, Shri Narahari Amin, Trustee of Jansahayak Trust and Rajya Sabha MP, expressed his gratitude. Rajya Sabha MP Shri Parimal Nathwani, along with the trustees of Jansahayak Trust and other invited dignitaries, were also present at the event.
