Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez Visits India to Enhance Bilateral Relations
On October 25, India welcomed Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez for a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations. Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, expressed optimism about the visit, seeing it as an opportunity to further deepen ties between the two nations.
Rodriguez’s visit follows her participation in the 9th CII-LAC Conclave in August 2023, held at the invitation of India’s Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal. Accompanied by a delegation of four ministers and 25 business leaders, she engaged in discussions with key Indian officials, including the Ministers of Finance, External Affairs, and Petroleum and Natural Gas, to explore areas of mutual cooperation.
Her previous trip to India took place in October 2019 when she attended the 2nd International Solar Alliance General Assembly, along with Simon Zerpa, Venezuela’s Minister of Economy and Finance.
Meanwhile, Venezuela’s recent election saw President Nicolas Maduro securing 51.2% of the vote, defeating opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, who garnered 44.2%. The election results sparked allegations of fraud, generating significant debate on social media.
