PM Modi Criticizes Congress for Neglecting Tribals in Jharkhand, Highlights BJP’s Commitment to Development

In a charged rally held in Gumla, Jharkhand, ahead of the state’s Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a scathing critique of the Congress party and its allies, accusing them of hindering the progress of the state and sidelining tribal leaders. Modi took the opportunity to praise the tribal community’s contribution to society and emphasized the leadership role they play within the BJP government.

Modi’s remarks focused on what he saw as the Congress’s attempts to prevent tribals from reaching their potential. He brought attention to the Congress’s refusal to support the rise of Draupadi Murmu, a tribal leader who became the President of India. “The Congress tried its best to stop tribal daughter Draupadi Murmu from becoming the President of India,” he said. He also spoke about the disrespect shown to former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, adding that such actions reflected Congress’s inability to accept tribals in positions of power.

Prime Minister Modi used the rally to assert that the BJP government had given tribal communities the platform to thrive, contrasting it with Congress’s alleged neglect. He proudly pointed to the presence of several tribal ministers within the BJP government, showcasing the party’s commitment to empowering these communities. “This is the reason why so many tribal ministers are in the BJP government,” Modi stated, reinforcing his message that the BJP recognizes the talent, leadership, and dedication of the tribal population.

Modi also claimed that the Congress and its allies were responsible for keeping Jharkhand backward and preventing it from reaching its full potential. He accused them of trying to undermine the development of the state while ignoring the contributions of tribal people. “Congress and its allies cannot see tribals at the top. They have kept Jharkhand backward,” Modi said. His statements were particularly aimed at the Congress-JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) alliance, which he alleged had stunted the growth of the state. Modi pointed out that the BJP, on the other hand, had introduced numerous schemes aimed at bringing development to Jharkhand.

He mentioned the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, a micro-credit scheme launched by the Modi government, which provides financial assistance to small entrepreneurs. The scheme allows individuals to avail of loans up to Rs. 10 lakh to help start or expand businesses. Modi highlighted that the program had been introduced in Jharkhand, starting from Dumka, further underlining the BJP’s focus on uplifting the state’s economy. Another key initiative mentioned by Modi was the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, a health insurance program that aims to provide coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakh for low-income earners. The Prime Minister assured the public that senior citizens above the age of 70 would benefit from free healthcare treatment under this scheme, thus offering much-needed support to the elderly in the state.

In a significant announcement, Modi introduced the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), a new initiative designed to address the needs of marginalized tribal communities. This scheme is part of the BJP’s broader agenda to uplift tribals and ensure they are not left behind in the nation’s growth story. Modi also reiterated his party’s commitment to the motto of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” (Together with all, development for all), stressing that the BJP would continue to work towards the welfare of all sections of society, including tribals, Dalits, and OBCs (Other Backward Classes).

In a direct attack on the Congress’s political approach, Modi accused the opposition party of attempting to divide the unity of tribals, OBCs, and Dalits. He claimed that the Congress had a history of creating divisions for political gain, while the BJP stood firm in its commitment to social cohesion and collective progress. “The BJP and NDA government follow the motto of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ and this is the path on which Jharkhand will be developed. But Congress and JMM have other intentions,” Modi said. His statements sought to portray the Congress-JMM alliance as divisive and out of touch with the needs of the state’s marginalized communities.

The Prime Minister’s speech underscored his belief that the BJP’s policies and governance model have provided a strong foundation for the progress of Jharkhand and its tribal population. He criticized the Congress for being focused on politics while the BJP was working to ensure the welfare of the people through concrete initiatives.

With the Jharkhand Assembly elections set to take place in two phases, on November 13 and 20, the political landscape in the state is heating up. The results of the elections will be announced on November 23. As the BJP gears up to retain its influence in the state, Prime Minister Modi’s rally in Gumla was an attempt to rally the support of the tribal population by stressing the party’s record of inclusion and development, while simultaneously highlighting the alleged failures of the Congress.

In the coming weeks, as voters head to the polls, these messages are likely to play a key role in shaping the outcome of the election, particularly in a state where tribal communities form a significant portion of the electorate.
