‘Raasta Kholo Abhiyan’ Becomes a Lifeline for Villagers

Efforts Through Consensus and Persuasion Yield Results
132 Roads Opened in 15 Days, Easing Paths to Villages and Fields

Jaipur : The Raasta Kholo Abhiyan, initiated under the directions of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, has emerged as a significant relief effort for villagers and the general public. Launched on November 15, the campaign has achieved remarkable success, with the district administration resolving access to 132 blocked pathways, including footpaths, cattle paths, and other inaccessible routes in Jaipur and Jaipur rural areas, within just 15 days using a strategy of consensus and persuasion.

Additional District Collector and campaign nodal officer, Smt. Suman Panwar, highlighted that reopening long-blocked roads has simplified travel to villages and fields for residents. Under this initiative, Jobner tehsil recorded the highest number of reopened pathways (11), followed by 10 each in Chomu and Sanganer, and 9 each in Amber, Aandhi, Shahpura, Phulera, and Madhorajpura.

Other notable successes include 8 roads reopened in Kishangarh-Renwal and Chaksu tehsils, 7 in Jamwaramgarh, 6 each in Bassi and Kotkhawda, 5 each in Rampura-Dhabri and Jalsu, and 4 each in Kalwad and Tunga. In Jaipur tehsil, the administration managed to reopen 3 blocked roads.

Dr. Soni has instructed officials to ensure the newly reopened roads are promptly upgraded with gravel and concrete surfaces. Work on many such roads has already begun. For cases pending in courts, complainants are advised to seek redress through judicial channels.

Villagers expressed their gratitude, noting that decades-old access issues—some dating back over 50 years—were resolved through this initiative. The campaign has reduced the need for court proceedings, saved resources, and mitigated disruptions to law and order. The district administration’s collaborative efforts with the police have significantly eased access to previously encroached or blocked pathways.

The Raasta Kholo Abhiyan addresses the rising number of complaints about encroachments on village roads, which have led to disputes and strained local law enforcement. By taking a proactive approach to resolve these issues, the administration has provided long-overdue relief to rural communities.
