Gandhinagar : Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel emphasized the importance of adopting food habits rich in natural substances and nutrients provided by nature. The CM mentioned that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘Back to Basics’ mantra encourages a return to traditional Indian food practices and dishes. The Chief Minister also inaugurated ‘Kshetriya Poshan Utsav’ (Regional Nutrition Festival) organized jointly by Deendayal Research Institute and Gujarat University. Shri Bhupendra Patel further launched ‘Poshan Utsav – Coffee Table Book,’ which celebrates India’s nutritional traditions. On this occasion, the Chief Minister emphasized that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has always guided us to focus on the smallest of details.

The Prime Minister has guided the nation on impactful and essential initiatives, including Swachhta Abhiyan, Har Ghar Shauchalay, efficient use of solar energy, ‘Catch the Rain’ Jal Sanchay (water conservation effort), tree plantation under ‘Ek Pad Maa Ke Naam,’ and the inclusion of Shri Anna (Millet) in the diet. The Chief Minister, explaining the significance of traditional food science and Indian cuisine, stated that fasting during the monsoon is observed in every religion. During the rainy season, when digestive power is weaker, it is equally important to consume smaller quantities of food. The Chief Minister further pointed out that Indian culture teaches us to eat in harmony with the seasons. Our religious traditions and festivals teach us to consume food not just for taste, but for its nutritional and health benefits.

The Chief Minister further mentioned that nutrition is thoughtfully incorporated into the Prasad offered at temples and during religious festivals, showcasing the alignment of religion and science in Indian traditions. The Chief Minister observed that, in today’s world, materialism often takes precedence over health. He emphasized the need to embrace the proverb ‘Pahelu Sukh Te Jate Narya’ (Health is the first Happiness) noting that only with a healthy body can one truly enjoy material comforts. On this occasion, Gujarat University Vice Chancellor Dr. Neerja Gupta spoke about the crucial role of nutrition in food. She mentioned that, with the rise of various diseases, consuming nutritious food is essential for maintaining good health.

Vice Chancellor Dr Neerja Gupta conveyed her gratitude to the Chief Minister and the Education Department for awarding Gujarat University a 5+ rating by the State Government. On this occasion, Shri Atul Jain, Principal Secretary of Deendayal Research Institute, Shri Girish Shah, Shri Bharat Pandya, Shri Dr Meena Kumari, along with members and students from Deendayal Research Institute, were also present.
