Lawngtlaiah District Level Committee On Border Protection Grid Thukhawm

Lawngtlai : Today, the ‘Lawngtlai District Level Committee on Border Protection Grid’ was convened by the Chairman, Pu Cheemala Siva Gopal Reddy, IAS, at the Lawngtlai District Headquarters in his office chamber.

Pu Cheemala Siva Gopal Reddy discussed the challenges posed by the international borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh, emphasizing the need for effective border protection and the prevention of illegal cross-border activities. He mentioned that both Assam Rifles and BSF have maintained a high level of security and that there is an urgent need to improve border management to curb unauthorized activities. The District Chairman also highlighted the importance of safeguarding the ‘international border’ for the benefit of Lawngtlai’s residents and securing their safety.

The meeting also reviewed the security status, with Assam Rifles providing an updated report on the security situation in the region. The committee discussed ongoing issues related to Myanmar and Bangladesh, such as unauthorized crossings and smuggling. Additionally, civil administration, BSF, Assam Rifles, and border security officers were tasked with increasing vigilance and cooperation for better border management.

Present at the meeting were Pu Zoramsiama Hmar (Addl. DC), SDPO Lawngtlai, SDO (C) Chawngte, BDO Bungtlang South, CID Special Branch (SB) Lawngtlai, and OC – Assam Rifles Lawngtlai, among others.
