“India Skills 2023-2024”, the biggest national competition at Yashobhoomi Convention Center in Delhi.

New Delhi, May 15, 2024: The country’s biggest national competition “India Skills 2023-2024” organized by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), was launched on 15 May in Dwarka, Delhi. It is situated in Yashobhoomi Convention Centre. This prestigious competition of the country will not only celebrate various skills but will also empower the youth to give them a future full of golden opportunities.

The India Skills Competition is designed to bring together training standards with global standards, promoting synergy with various industries. The final prize will be a chance for the winning contestant to represent India at the World Skills Competition in Lyon, France in 2024. The winning contestants will compete against 1,500 contestants from over 65 countries. This year, early trends predict that India will be successful in winning medals in Automobile, Hospitality Mechatronics and Water Technology at WorldSkills.

IndiaSkills Competition 2024 – is providing a huge national platform to more than 900 students and more than 400 industry experts from more than 30 states and union territories of the country. The IndiaSkills competition, being held over four days, is showcasing the participants’ diverse skills and talents in 61 skills ranging from traditional crafts to cutting-edge technologies. However, 47 skill competitions will be held onsite and keeping in mind the best infrastructure, 14 competitions are being held offsite in Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. The participants are also participating in 9 exhibition skills like Drone-Film Making, Textile Weaving, Leather Shoe Making and Prosthetics-Makeup.

The participants participating in IndiaSkills Competition 2024 have got the opportunity to get trained in ITIs, NSTIs, Polytechnics, Institutes of Engineering, Institutes of Nursing and Institutes of Biotechnology. This shows that Indian youth are becoming skilled by getting training as per international standard training. IndiaSkills 2024, as the country’s largest skills competition, is highly effective in showcasing the highest standards of skills and giving the youth a platform to showcase their talent. With the ability to reach the grassroots level, India Skills 2024 is also set to make a lasting impact on the skill landscape of the country.

Speaking at the launch of IndiaSkills Competition 2024, Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) said, “This event is a testament to the collective efforts and unwavering commitment to foster a culture of skill development and excellence in our country. is before us in form. IndiaSkills competitions are truly a unique platform that brings the benefits of high standards of skills to all in our increasingly competitive and fast-paced world. The IndiaSkills competition is not just a showcase of skills; It celebrates the intrinsic value of skill development in shaping the future of our nation. In an era of rapid technological advancements and dynamic global trends, it has never been more important to possess relevant skills”.

Shri Tiwari also told the contestants, “Participating in any competition is the first step to winning it. So, I am extremely proud to see all of you coming forward and participating in India’s biggest skills championship. I know that you all will set an example of excellence for other youth in the country and inspire the youth to develop passion for skills, achieve excellence and seek opportunities to represent India on the global stage”.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Neelambuj Sharan, Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said, “It is imperative to recognize the important role played by skilled youth in shaping the economic landscape of our country. In a country where the majority of the population is under the age of 35, harnessing the potential of our youth is not just an option, but a necessity. Skilled youth have the power to innovate, create and drive our economy forward with their talent and expertise. By striving to help Indian youth achieve world-class standards of competency, excellence and productivity, the IndiaSkills competition is not only raising the bar of skill development but also positioning India as a global leader in vocational education and training. It is noteworthy that participants in IndiaSkills 2024 will get the opportunity to earn credit under the National Credit Framework. All the skills showcased in both the WorldSkills and IndiaSkills competitions have been carefully aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). This is the first time that IndiaSkills has included a Competition Information System called Currency.

Around 2.5 lakh candidates had registered for the competition on the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDDH) portal, of which 26,000 were Hajj.
