Integrated Development of Rural and Urban Areas is Essential for the All-Round Development of Chhattisgarh : CM Vishnu Deo Sai

With the blessings of Lord Shri Ram, Chhattisgarh is rapidly progressing towards becoming a developed state. Our government has completed just thirteen months, during which we have undertaken numerous significant initiatives for good governance, public service, and sensitivity, said Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai while addressing the ‘Urban Development Milestones’ program held at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium.

Chief Minister emphasized the importance of integrated development of rural and urban areas for the holistic development of Chhattisgarh, requiring adequate human resources. He mentioned that a long-standing demand for compassionate appointments in urban bodies has been addressed with the creation of new positions. In the program, 103 compassionate appointment letters were distributed, and the government has approved 353 positions for compassionate appointments in the Urban Administration and Development Department.

At the program, foundation laying ceremony was performed for 813 works worth Rs 155.38 crore and the inauguration of 70 projects worth Rs 15.25 crore across various urban bodies. Under the Amrit Mission 2.0, water supply schemes worth Rs 270 crore were launched in six urban bodies, including Takhatpur, Ratanpur, Bhanupratappur, Chhuria, Malhar, and Khongapani, providing 20,511 private water connections and bringing clean drinking water to every household, a commitment of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Chief Minister also highlighted the success of “Swachh Bharat Mission” in urban areas, with significant participation from the public. Fourteen urban bodies were honoured for their exemplary work in the Clean Toilet Campaign. He praised the contribution of sanitation workers in maintaining cleanliness, announcing an Rs 800 increase in their monthly honorarium, raising it to Rs 8,000.

He reiterated Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision that no Indian should have to sleep under the open sky, ensuring every citizen has a roof over their head, a proper house. The first decision of the government, after its formation on December 13, was to approve 18 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The state has received substantial support from the central government, with an additional 300,000 houses approved for the next fiscal year.

During his address, Chief Minister invited the devotees from Chhattisgarh to participate in the grand Mahakumbh event at Prayagraj, where special arrangements have been made for their stay and meals.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao and other dignitaries, including Revenue Minister Shri Tankaram Verma, MLAs, and senior officials from the Urban Administration Department, were present at the event. They commended the government’s efforts under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, highlighting various development initiatives in urban areas, ensuring clean drinking water supply to nearly four lakh people under the Amrit Mission 2.0.
