CM Stalin Reviews Rain Preparedness & Paddy Procurement in Delta Districts

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M.K. Stalin, held a review meeting at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat with the district collectors of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, and Pudukkottai via video conference.

As heavy rainfall is expected in these districts over the next couple of days, the meeting focused on ensuring timely paddy procurement without any hindrance. It was reported that, as of the 2024-25 procurement season, 16,94,796 metric tons of paddy have been procured, which is 3,10,288 metric tons more than last year. To facilitate seamless procurement, 2,088 direct procurement centers have been set up, employing additional staff compared to the previous year.

Given the anticipated heavy rains on 28.02.2025 and 01.03.2025, the Chief Minister instructed district collectors to take all necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted procurement and safe storage of the procured paddy. The collectors briefed him on the steps taken to mitigate any potential disruptions.

The meeting was attended by Hon’ble Minister for Water Resources Thiru. Duraimurugan, Hon’ble Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Thiru. R. Sakkarapani, Chief Secretary Thiru. N. Muruganandam, Additional Chief Secretary for Finance Thiru. T. Udhayachandran, and several senior officials. Also present were the Managing Directors of Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation and Tamil Nadu Warehousing Corporation, along with the district collectors of the concerned regions.
