“PM Modi heads to Italy for pivotal G7 Summit”
New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for Apulia, Italy, this evening to attend the G7 summit. In his departure statement, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the India-Italy strategic partnership and enhancing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean regions.
At the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, PM Modi is traveling to Italy’s Apulia region to participate in the G7 Outreach Summit. He expressed that he is pleased his first visit in his third consecutive term is to Italy for the G7 Summit.
PM Modi highlighted that Prime Minister Meloni’s visits to India last year significantly boosted the bilateral agenda’s momentum and depth. During the Outreach session discussions, the focus will be on artificial intelligence, energy, Africa, and the Mediterranean.
He noted that the summit offers an opportunity to create greater synergy between the outcomes of the G20 Summit under India’s Presidency and the upcoming G7 Summit, particularly concerning issues crucial to the Global South. PM Modi also expressed his eagerness to meet other leaders participating in the Summit.
