Chief Minister Unveils ‘Bastar Pandum 2025’ Logo

Raipur : Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai unveiled the logo of Bastar Pandum 2025 in the presence of dancing artists playing Mandar drums at the Assembly complex’s committee hall. He emphasized that Bastar Pandum will not only safeguard Bastar’s folk culture and traditions but also provide a platform for inclusive participation in its festivities. Extending his best wishes for the success of Bastar Pandum, he stated that this event will connect the new generation with Bastar’s rich cultural heritage while offering a strong platform for talented local artists. The Chief Minister also released a booklet on Bastar Pandum during the event.

Commitment to Bastar’s Development and Peace

CM Vishnu Dev Sai reiterated that his government prioritizes Bastar’s development and integration into the mainstream. He highlighted ongoing efforts to free Bastar from Maoist influence and pointed out the enthusiastic participation of locals in events like the Bastar Olympics and the Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon. This, he said, demonstrates the growing trust of Bastar’s people in governance and their aspiration for peace and progress.

He further announced a major decision in the budget to establish a hospital in the conflict-affected village of Puvarti. Additionally, through the Niyad Nella Naar Yojana, the government is rapidly fulfilling the basic needs of Bastar’s people.

Bastar Pandum: A True Reflection of Bastar’s Life

The Chief Minister noted that the people of Bastar are known for their simplicity and unique way of celebrating life. Bastar Pandum will provide a closer look at the region’s authentic lifestyle. The event will feature competitions in seven cultural categories, including dance, folk songs, traditional arts, theater, handicrafts, customs, and cuisine.

He expressed his vision for a peaceful and prosperous Bastar, where people live fearlessly and enjoy all government benefits.

The event was attended by Deputy CM Arun Sao, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, MLAs Kiran Dev, Lata Usendi, Vinayak Goyal, Culture Department Secretary Anbalagan P., and Director of Culture Vivek Acharya.

Bastar Pandum Logo: A Symbol of Bastar’s Identity

The Bastar Pandum 2025 logo vividly represents Bastar’s cultural identity. It artistically showcases Bastar’s heritage, incorporating elements such as:

  • Indravati River (Bastar’s lifeline)
  • Chitrakote Waterfall
  • Chhattisgarh’s State Animal (Wild Buffalo) & State Bird (Hill Myna)
  • Bison Horn Crown, Turhi (tribal trumpet), Drum, Salfi and Tadi Trees

The term “Bastar Pandum” comes from the Gondi language, meaning “Bastar’s Festival”. The logo effectively captures the essence of Bastar’s vibrant and resilient spirit.

Seven Major Categories of Competitions

“Bastar Pandum 2025” will feature competitions in tribal dance, folk music, theater, traditional instruments, attire & jewelry, crafts & paintings, and tribal cuisine & beverages. The event will be held in three phases:

  • Block-level competitions: March 12-20
  • District-level competitions: March 21-23
  • Division-level finals in Dantewada: April 1-3

Winners at each stage will receive special prizes and certificates.

Major Attractions: A Grand Showcase of Bastar’s Traditions

The event will highlight Bastar’s rich dance forms, folk songs, rituals, attire, jewelry, and traditional food. Performances will be judged on authenticity, tradition, and presentation.

A special selection committee has been formed, including tribal leaders, priests, and experienced artists, ensuring transparency and fairness in recognizing traditional folk art.

Bastar Pandum 2025 is set to be a grand cultural festival, offering an immersive experience into Bastar’s vibrant traditions while promoting peace and unity in the region.
