Drug Awareness Campaign Held at Saitual
Saitual – A drug awareness campaign jointly organized by the Excise & Narcotics Department and the Sub-Hqrs YMA of Saitual District was held today at 10:00 AM at the old DC Office building’s conference hall, PWD Vengah.
At the event, Pu R. Lalruatliana, Officer-in-Charge of the Excise & Narcotics Station, Saitual District, addressed the gathering. He highlighted the increasing prevalence of drug abuse in the district and emphasized the urgent need to take action against it. He appreciated the dedication of community leaders in the fight against drugs and expressed confidence in their continued efforts. He stated that this campaign marks the beginning of a stronger movement and stressed the importance of educating and creating awareness among youth to prevent them from falling into addiction.
Pu C. Lalremruata, Chairman of the SRS, also spoke at the event, stressing the need for collective responsibility in protecting and supporting those affected by drug abuse. He emphasized the importance of ongoing awareness programs and encouraged unity in tackling the issue.
Pi Lalbiaktluangi, President of MHIP Sub-Hqrs, pointed out the increasing number of young people suffering due to drug addiction and expressed concern. She stated that while YMA has made efforts in the past to fight drug abuse, stronger collaboration with the Excise & Narcotics Department is crucial going forward.
The campaign brought together individuals affected by drug abuse in Saitual District and featured educational sessions on the physical, mental, and social impact of drugs, as well as discussions on prevention strategies. A “Signature Campaign” was also conducted to pledge commitment to fight against drug abuse.
Today’s program was chaired by Pu K. Lalthangvunga, Chairman of the Sub-Hqrs Kumpuan. The closing prayer was led by Rev. Lalsanglura Sailo, BCM. Key addresses were given by Pu C. Lalremruata (O/C, Excise & Narcotics), Pu R. Lalruatliana (Chairman, SRS), and Pi Lalbiaktluangi (President, MHIP Sub-Hqrs). The event saw the participation of individuals affected by drugs, community leaders, and representatives from various government departments.
