Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that every drop of water contains the essence of life. Only by preserving it can the water crisis be averted. With this objective in mind, a three-month-long “Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan” (Water Ganga Conservation Campaign) is being conducted across the state with public participation. He mentioned that, in the initial phase of the campaign, ministers, MPs, urban and rural representatives, along with officers, employees, and common citizens, are actively participating. The campaign includes the cleaning, deepening, and restoration of old water sources, as well as the construction of new water structures to conserve rainwater. In Shahdol district, water conservation work is being carried out in every village under the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan. The restoration of water structures like wells, ponds, kunds, and stepwells is taking place to preserve every drop of water. In the village of Kumari, the pond was cleaned and deepened to conserve rainwater. In Chhindwara, students contributed to the cleaning of an ancient well under the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan. The village Maukha cleaned the local drain by removing silt and purifying the water. Students from BSW and MSW, such as Reena, Shashi Barange, Pappu Chaudhary, Bandewar, Sunita Kahar, Mahima Sahu, Pankaj Gadre, and Sagar Pawar, worked alongside villagers to clean the ancient water well situated in the Pataleshwar Dham temple complex, removing waste, worship materials, and tree leaves.Deepening of Ponds in Dewas
In the Dewas district, the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan focuses on the construction and deepening of water structures. With the cooperation of the district administration and local villages, the deepening of a pond in the village of Agera in the Sonkatch block is underway. This will help gather more rainwater, improving the local groundwater level and ensuring an adequate water supply for drinking and agriculture.Cleanliness Drive at Pali Sagra Pond in Umaria with Public Cooperation
In Umaria, the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan is being conducted by village panchayats to preserve water. Cleaning of rivers, ponds, and wells is taking place. In this effort, the Pali Sagra Pond in the village of Sagra was cleaned. With the help of the Jan Abhiyan Parishad, Nagar Vikas Prasphutan Samiti, and Navankur Sanstha, wall writings and water discussion meetings were organized to raise awareness about water conservation.
The success of the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan for water conservation requires integrated efforts. There is a visible change in the mindset of citizens, with the younger generation actively participating in this public initiative.
