Chief Minister Eknath Shinde bids farewell to retiring Maharashtra Legislative Council members.
Mumbai : In the Legislative Council, which is the upper house of the Maharashtra Legislature, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde acknowledged the contributions of senior members like Gavai. He stated that members have effectively used parliamentary tools to address public issues through this House.
On June 21, 2024, five members of the Maharashtra Legislative Council—Sarveshree Suresh Dhas, Praveen Pote Patil, Ramdas Atvkar, Narendra Darade, and Viplav Bajoria—retired. They were bid farewell in a ceremony held in the central hall of the legislature. Present at the event were Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council Dr. Neelam Gorhe, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Adv. Rahul Narvekar, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, Minority Development and Auqaf Investment Minister Abdul Sattar, Housing, Other Backward and Bahujan Welfare Minister Atul Save, and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Ambadas Danve.
Chief Minister Shinde praised the senior members of the Upper House for enhancing its reputation and preserving its sanctity. He congratulated the retiring members for their service.
Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis described the Legislative Council as a hall of elders and thought, emphasizing the importance of ideological discussions. He commended the retiring members for their excellent work and wished them well for their future endeavors.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawar also congratulated the retiring members, expressing hope that their experience in solving public issues would lead to further achievements in political and social work.
Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha Adv. Rahul Narvekar, Deputy Chairman Dr. Neelam Gorhe, and retiring members Suresh Dhas, Praveen Pote Patil, Ramdas Atvkar, and Narendra Darade shared their experiences. MLA Rajesh Rathod and Dr. Manisha Kayande also presented their thoughts.
The program was moderated by MLA Dr. Satyajit Tambe, and a group photograph was taken of all present in the premises of the Legislature.
