Mental Health Services for the Injured and Their Families Following the Pahalgam Tragedy, Provided by Municipal Hospitals

Mumbai : In the aftermath of the recent tragic incident in Pahalgam, Mumbai’s Municipal Corporation has arranged mental health services for the injured individuals and their families at four major civic hospitals. These include:

  1. Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair Hospital
  2. Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College and KEM Hospital
  3. Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital (Sion Hospital)
  4. Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College and RN Cooper Hospital

These hospitals are offering a range of psychological support services between 9 AM and 4 PM, including counseling, assessment of acute stress, screening for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), medication, and hospital admission if necessary.

From 4 PM to 9 AM, these hospitals will also provide emergency counseling and medication for symptoms such as stress, insomnia, anxiety, and flashbacks related to the traumatic incident.

In addition, the HITGUJ helpline (022-24131212), established for suicide prevention, will be available from 9 AM to 4 PM for mental health assessments by expert counselors. If required, patients will be referred to appropriate hospitals.
