Special Article: Su-shasan Tihar – Addressing People’s Aspirations

Raipur : Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Su-shasan Tihar in Chhattisgarh is proving to be an effective mechanism for swiftly addressing public grievances and ensuring the benefits of government schemes reach the last citizen. Held in three phases from 8 April to 31 May 2025, this campaign promotes transparency, accountability, and public dialogue. Its core aim is to make governance more citizen-centric, reinforce public trust, and assess development at the grassroots level.

In the first phase (8–11 April), grievances and demands were collected through suggestion boxes, an online portal, and camps. A staggering 40.31 lakh applications were received, including 39.49 lakh related to demands and only 81,344 related to complaints. In the second phase, district administrations are working swiftly to resolve these applications, while the third phase (5–31 May) will see the Chief Minister, ministers, and public representatives engaging directly with citizens in resolution camps. The campaign has not only resolved issues but also won the trust of people even in remote and Maoist-affected areas like Bastar.

The objectives of this initiative are clear and inclusive—timely redressal of complaints, effective implementation of government schemes, promotion of transparency and accountability in governance, and establishing a communication bridge between the government and the people. In remote regions such as Sukma, Bijapur, Narayanpur, and Dantewada, where administrative outreach was limited, the campaign is actively listening to citizens and bringing positive changes through prompt action. For example, in Narayanpur’s Muriyapara, streetlights have illuminated Ward No. 10 based on resident Jeevan Ram Sahu’s request, improving safety and convenience at night. In Bilaspur’s Kota block, Mangalsingh Baiga received a tricycle within 24 hours, and his eligibility for disability pension was confirmed. Similarly, ₹15 lakh was sanctioned for a dilapidated school building in Telitola, Mohla-Manpur-Chowki district.

Manohar Singh Patel of Mahasamund received an Ayushman Card within 24 hours, giving him access to healthcare. Bharti Devangan from Rajnandgaon was issued a labour card instantly, ensuring her inclusion in social security schemes. Vikas Mishra of Raipur received his learning license, and Nirmala Jogi of Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur got her ration card on 15 April, thanking the Chief Minister. In Bastar, Shambhunath Kashyap’s wife and son were added to his ration card within a week, enabling full access to food supplies. In Raigarh, 80% disabled Sudarshan Khadia received a tricycle and crutches, boosting his confidence and mobility.

The positive impact of Su-shasan Tihar is being felt across all sections of society. It not only resolves individual issues but also catalyzes community development. The approval for the school building in Telitola will have long-term educational benefits, while streetlights in Narayanpur enhance community safety. Distribution of documents like ration and Ayushman cards in Bastar reflects the government’s resolve to ensure every eligible beneficiary avails the benefits of welfare schemes. The campaign showcases a responsive and compassionate administration, instilling faith among citizens that their needs—big or small—are being heard and addressed.

On social media, Su-shasan Tihar has been trending since 8 April. The Chief Minister wrote on Facebook that the campaign is the “center of people’s hopes.” Sharing images of the new streetlights in Narayanpur on Instagram, he remarked that the campaign is “lighting up the nights.” Bastar’s district administration posted Shambhunath’s story on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the resolve to reach every household. In Ambikapur, a man even requested help with getting married through the suggestion box—a humorous yet telling sign of the people’s confidence in this outreach.

There is a palpable sense of excitement among citizens, especially in Maoist-affected regions, where the suggestion boxes have empowered villagers to voice their concerns. Beneficiaries like Nirmala Jogi and Sudarshan Khadia have expressed gratitude to the government. Comments on X like “our issues have been heard” underscore the campaign’s success. Su-shasan Tihar 2025 is bridging the gap between the government and the people. The timely delivery of tricycles, installation of streetlights, and issuance of ration cards all reflect a sensitive and proactive governance model. As the Chief Minister aptly wrote, “Commitment, Dialogue, and Resolution” define this campaign. Su-shasan Tihar is setting a new benchmark for governance, public engagement, and welfare in Chhattisgarh.
