CM Shri Bhupendra Patel’s Important Health-Related Initiative for the State’s Karmyogis
Under the PMJAY-MAA scheme, families holding “G” category cards will receive cashless treatment up to Rs. 10 lakh – Health Minister Shri Rishikesh Patel
An estimated 6.40 lakh officers, employees, and pensioners of the state will benefit from this scheme.
For expenses exceeding Rs. 10 lakh or for treatments/procedures not available under AB-PMJAY-MAA, medical reimbursement will be provided as per rules.
At a cabinet meeting held in Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, an important health-related decision was taken. Providing details, State Government spokesperson and Health Minister Shri Rishikesh Patel stated that the Gujarat Karmyogi Swasthya Suraksha Yojana has been launched for all state officers, employees, and pensioners, under which a cashless health benefit package will be provided.
Further details from the minister revealed that, similar to the existing benefits under the PMJAY-MAA scheme, all Karmyogis (employees) will be included in this new scheme. All state government employees and pensioners will be issued the “G” series AB-PMJAY-MAA card. The PMJAY nodal agency SHA (State Health Agency) will handle the card issuance process.
Under this scheme, cashless treatment up to Rs. 10 lakh per family annually will be available for treatments of specified procedures at government hospitals, equivalent government hospitals, and PMJAY empaneled hospitals.
Outpatient (OPD) treatments will not be covered under this scheme. The current monthly medical allowance of Rs. 1000 will continue to be provided.
For expenses exceeding Rs. 10 lakh, or for treatments/procedures not available under AB-PMJAY-MAA, or if the hospital is not empaneled under PMJAY, medical reimbursement will be provided according to the Gujarat State Service (Medical Treatment) Rules, 2015, as per existing procedures.
It is noteworthy that currently, under the PMJAY-MAA scheme, a total of 2,658 hospitals (904 private and 1,754 government) are empaneled in the state, covering treatment of 2,471 specified procedures.
All India Services (AIS) officers and pensioners serving in the state, state government officers, employees, pensioners, their dependent family members, and all employees eligible for medical reimbursement under the Gujarat State Service (Medical Treatment) Rules, 2015, will benefit from this scheme.
With this government decision, approximately 4.20 lakh officers and employees and about 2.20 lakh pensioners, totaling around 6.40 lakh Karmyogis, will receive healthcare benefits under this scheme.
Fixed-pay employees currently receive benefits under the Karmyogi card. Pensioners aged 70+ are currently benefiting from the recently launched Vayvandana Yojana and will not be eligible for this scheme.
The state government will bear a premium burden of Rs. 303.3 crore for this scheme. The government will pay an annual premium of Rs. 3,708 per family for treatment under this card.
