Mumbai Has the Potential to Create a $1.5 Trillion Economy – CM Devendra Fadnavis
Chief Minister interacts with Indian Foreign Service officers
Mumbai : The upcoming Vadhavan Port in Mumbai will be three times larger than JNPT and is poised to be counted among the world’s top ten major ports. This development is expected to generate a new economic wave over the next two decades. Mumbai alone currently holds the potential to generate a $1.5 trillion economy, stated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The Chief Minister interacted with 14 officers from the 2013–14 batch of the Indian Foreign Service at Sahyadri Guest House. Also present were Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Vikas Kharge, Secretary to the CM Dr. Shrikar Pardeshi, and Additional Chief Secretary of the Protocol Department Seema Vyas.
During the interaction, CM Fadnavis emphasized that port development is vital to Mumbai’s overall growth. To support this, a coastal road is under construction. The Atal Setu is catalyzing the development of a “Third Mumbai,” and an “EduCity” is also being established. This education hub will house 12 leading Indian universities on a 200-acre campus and is expected to accommodate nearly 100,000 students. In addition, an Innovation City is planned over 300 acres.
Furthermore, a 1,000-acre Knowledge City is being developed to make Mumbai a technology powerhouse. As a result, a radically transformed Mumbai will emerge within the next five years.
The interaction between the Foreign Service officers and the Chief Minister also included discussions on various national and international topics. They deliberated on Maharashtra’s global investment prospects, the state’s role in foreign policy, the vision for a developed India, and several international projects underway in Maharashtra.
