Thailand’s Opal Suchata Crowned Miss World 2025

Opal Suchata Chuang from Thailand has been crowned Miss World 2025, marking a historic win for her country in one of the world’s most prestigious beauty pageants. Held amidst global anticipation, this 72nd edition of the Miss World competition featured participants from 108 nations.

As her name was announced, Opal Suchata became visibly emotional. She received the crown from Kristina Pyszková of the Czech Republic, who held the Miss World 2024 title and passed on the legacy with heartfelt congratulations. Thailand’s victory was made even more notable by its significance—it is the country’s first-ever Miss World win.

In a strong showing by Poland, contestants from the country secured both the first and second runner-up titles, while Miss Martinique earned the position of third runner-up. Ethiopia’s Hasset Dereje Admassu also made a powerful impression, finishing as the runner-up to Opal in the grand finale.

Opal Suchata Chuangsri, who hails from Phuket, Thailand, will receive a prize amounting to ₹8.5 crore as part of her victory. Known for her grace and determination, Opal described her journey with the words “grit and determination.” She emphasized that confidence, compassion, and purpose have been the cornerstones of her life.

In her post-crowning remarks, she shared, “Always believe in yourself. Stick to your core values. I’m here today because I held onto my purpose and believed in myself. Also, don’t forget to love yourself along the journey.”

She acknowledged that the road to the crown wasn’t easy. “It’s not always easy — it can be exhausting and discouraging at times. But if you never give up, you’ll eventually get to where you’re meant to be,” she added.

For the grand finale, Opal wore a stunning white gown adorned with floral patterns inspired by opals. The design symbolized both healing and inner strength—qualities that defined her journey to the title.

Opal beat out 107 national winners from around the world to claim the crown. Meanwhile, India’s hopes of securing the title were dashed as Nandini Gupta, the country’s representative, did not make it to the Top 8 finalists.

Last year, the Miss World 2024 crown went to Krystyna Pyszkova during a ceremony held in India after 28 years. She triumphed over contenders such as Yasmina Zaytoun of Lebanon, Ache Abrahams of Trinidad and Tobago, and Lesego Chombo of Botswana.

India has won the Miss World title six times, with actress Manushi Chhillar being the last to claim the crown in 2017.
