Successful Mock Drill and Blackout Conducted Under ‘Operation Shield’ in Jaipur

District Administration, Police, and Related Agencies Test Emergency Preparedness
Residential Areas of Jaipur Military Station on Khathipura Road Participate Actively

Jaipur : As part of the directives issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and the Government of Rajasthan, a successful mock drill and blackout exercise was conducted on Saturday under ‘Operation Shield’ in the residential area of Jaipur Military Station, located on Khathipura Road.

At exactly 8:15 PM, a siren signaled the start of the blackout. Residents of Jadunath Vihar, Bharatendu Nagar, Jaswant Nagar, and Khathipura, within the identified perimeter, voluntarily turned off all lights. During this time, under the leadership of Additional Commissioner of Police Shri Kunwar Rashtradeep, traffic and police personnel encouraged citizens to follow blackout guidelines. Motorists parked their vehicles along the roadside and switched off their lights voluntarily.

This coordinated effort resulted in a highly successful blackout in the designated area. District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni expressed gratitude to the public for responsibly participating in the event.

Earlier in the evening, at 5 PM, a simulated air strike alert was received at the Jaipur Collectorate control room, and sirens were sounded. This triggered immediate action by the administration, police, emergency services, and other departments. Dr. Soni arrived at the site and personally monitored the entire exercise.

Divisional Commissioner Smt. Poonam and Additional Police Commissioner Shri Kunwar Rashtradeep were also present. The police cleared the grounds, while the fire brigade extinguished a simulated fire in a building. Civil defense personnel rescued individuals trapped inside using their training and expertise.

Simultaneously, the Medical and Health Department, in coordination with emergency services, transported the “injured” to local hospitals via ambulances. Teams from ERT (Emergency Response Team), SDRF (State Disaster Response Force), and ATS (Anti-Terrorism Squad) carried out a thorough sweep of the area for suspicious objects.

Under the leadership of District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, various departments—including the district administration, police, civil defense, municipal corporation, SDRF, ERT, ATS, and the Medical & Health Department—demonstrated strong cooperation, rapid response, and efficient rescue operations. The mock drill and blackout were completed successfully, fulfilling the objectives of Operation Shield.
