“John Deere Should Manufacture Smart Machines in Maharashtra and Export Globally” – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
Inauguration of ‘John Deere Intelligent Solutions’ Plant at Sanaswadi
Pune : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has called on John Deere India to take the lead in manufacturing smart machines based on advanced technologies to empower farmers and enhance the agriculture sector. He urged the company to produce such technology in Maharashtra and export it across the world, strengthening the vision of ‘Make in Maharashtra’.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the John Deere Intelligent Solutions plant at Sanaswadi, located in the Shirur Industrial Area. The event was attended by District Collector Jitendra Dudi, PMRDA Commissioner Deepak Singla, Superintendent of Police Sandeep Gill, Rajesh Sinha, Mukul Vasane, and Devendra Bahirat, among others.
The Chief Minister noted that John Deere has upheld its value and achieved progress in Maharashtra, India, and around the world. He acknowledged that the agriculture sector is facing challenges due to climate change and appreciated how companies like John Deere are providing new technology to address these issues. With the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into agriculture, qualitative improvements in production are being achieved, enabling farmers to adapt to evolving processes.
Referring to the recently held Agri-Hackathon in Pune, he said many innovative ideas emerged from the event. John Deere has the capacity to transform these ideas into products and deliver the benefits of this technological revolution to farmers. He emphasized that innovation is essential to maintain relevance in the market, and John Deere has consistently led in this regard. He encouraged the company to deliver this smart machine revolution to farmers and manufacture and export these machines from Maharashtra. He assured that the state government would fully support the company in its expansion efforts.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the company’s successful policy of employing 70% women and praised John Deere for aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visions of ‘Make in India’, ‘Design in India’, and ‘Make for the World’. Maharashtra-made John Deere products are being exported to nine countries, and 80% of the company’s revenue comes from exports. India has the required design expertise, and John Deere is conducting both product designing and certification locally. These are two vital aspects for any industrial enterprise, making John Deere a truly Indian and Maharashtra-based company.
The Chief Minister further stated that John Deere is providing excellent technology to farmers. Compared to other sectors, agriculture requires greater levels of advanced technology, automation, and AI. This shift will modernize traditional farming methods, increase accuracy in operations, and positively impact both production and productivity. John Deere India has placed these principles at the center of its strategy. From sowing to post-harvest processing, the company has provided valuable technological solutions for the entire agricultural cycle.
In his introductory remarks, Rajesh Sinha shared details about the project. He stated that Maharashtra offers a favorable environment for industries, which is why John Deere India has made its fifth-largest investment in the state. The new plant will assist farmers in achieving better yields using AI-based technology. Over the past seven years, John Deere has significantly contributed to India’s agriculture and road construction sectors. The products manufactured in Pune are fully made in India.
Prior to the event, Chief Minister Fadnavis inspected the new John Deere India project and reviewed the facilities.
